    A little insight

Yeah the guys at my work are definitely meat eaters. I’ve never tried the beans, I’ll have to give them a shot.

    A little insight

Hello all, Not sure what topic to post this under so please move if needed. I’m thinking of smoking some food for about 20 guys at my work. I took off New Year’s Eve but my work is open. I’ve never cooked for this many people before so looking for insight and help. Any suggestions what to...

    Your Opinion is Needed!

You’re telling me. I moved my truck to try and help block the wind but it wasn’t doing much help as my garage faces north and the wind was coming in from the WNW. I had to move the diverted to the left about 1/8 inch to help it When there is no wind it’s dead on so far. I’ve only had it two weeks

    Your Opinion is Needed!

I did a pork shoulder over the weekend. 14.5 hours. 40 degree weather and winds were about 20-25 mph, and it held between 7 degrees all day. I can handle that

    Your Opinion is Needed!

I just bought a GMG Daniel Boone non WiFi couple weeks ago. LOVE it. Got the non WiFi. The sale is good through the 9th, so hurry if you’re interested. $399 plus tax for a usually $600 grill, and this sale only comes once a year

    First time pork shoulder

Heated up a pan of the pork in the oven for lunch. Made @soflaquer finishing sauce and put some all over then covered in foil for 45 minutes. Absolutely fantastic. My wife even popped around the kitchen corner and said it was good last night, but it’s great with the finishing sauce on it. She...

    First time pork shoulder

Thanks for your suggestions and advice! Thanks! Also thanks for your rub recipe. I got it back in March of 2017 and have made several batches of it. Great stuff! Turned out nice on the shoulder!

    First time pork shoulder

Overall I’m happy with the results. Great bark, easily pulled bone and meat apart. I will go to the store in the morning and get rest of ingredients for finishing sauce and will warm these pans up in the oven tomorrow and put the sauce on after. I think next time I will try wrapping it as well...

    First time pork shoulder

12 hours in temp is at 184 Once it reaches temp and I pull it, do I put it in a pan covered in foil, and wrapped in a towel and then into a cooler? Will it stay good out of a fridge til the morning? It will be lunch and dinner tomorrow.

    First time pork shoulder

I was a wood/charcoal only guy, but that takes up so much time to even do a short smoke. I’d had my eye on a green mountain grill for a while but I knew they went on sale Black Friday so got me one this year. I love it. Set and forget essentially. This is my 2nd smoke on it. I did ribs last...

    First time pork shoulder

Definitely see myself investing in a thermal blanket sometime. 10 hours in and I’ve hit the pellet alarm twice on my Daniel Boone. Temp has been in mid-upper 40s all day but when the wind kicked up is when I really started chewing through pellets

    First time pork shoulder

On the bright side of things, with the wind and smoker set at 275, it’s running an even 250 on both sides of grate.

    First time pork shoulder

I’ve moved vehicles around and put my truck behind it to help block the wind, it’s helping a little. My original plan was to put it on at midnight but we had some good rain overnight.
