Hot Italian Rope - Bullet Break-in

Just broke in my generic charcoal bullet (after modding it on Friday) with about 3 lbs. of hot Italian sausage that I got from my mom a few weeks ago. It held pretty consistently between 225 and 250 for about three hours. Pulled the sausage at 165 degrees and let the smoker roll with a few...

    I got the finish pics

You know, don't sweat the photos on this one. Just smoke more fatties and shoot them. I recommend practicing until you get it just right.

    Whatcha cookin' 7/12 -7/13

Just finished the mods to my generic charcoal bullet last night, so I'm thinking I'll break it in with this 3lb. rope of hot italian sausage my mom gave me. My boys (7 and 8) want to roll some fatties like their big sister. So when mom leaves for a bridal shower, I think we're gonna go big!

i hope ypu people are happy!

As I've said before: sanity is overrated, or so THEY say. (Not sure if THEY are inside voices or outside voices....) Yeah... about that... chihuahua and mesquite are not the pair you would expect them to be. Go figure....

Spent a week in Slidell back in February. Still suffering from Katrina, but amazingly friendly folks. Good to have another one of you southern folks on board!

    New in L.A.

I thought smoking is now illegal in California. That's OK; this forum seems to be full of rebels. Welcome!

    Fatty Throwdown??

I can take a pretty good beating, so I'm OK with a poll.

    Stop me! Drum Smoker Intervention?

Thanks, all, for the insight. Last night, I drilled the draft holes. Tonight, I got it nice and hot, and the paint on the outside is gone. I can see bare steel inside as well. At one point, I thought I'd be smart and lay the lid over the top and burn that off as well. When I saw the heat drop...

Okie From Muskogee Missing good BBQ in PA.

Welcome, Aaron85! I grew up in NE PA and didn't know about Q (we used to call sloppy joes "barbeque"--sad, I know). I'm counting on you to spread the Q gospel back home (so there's something there when I visit my folks). This is the place to learn, a Q seminary, of sorts. One drawback to this...

Can you smoke using one of those public parks grills?

Do we still have time to help? What are the restrictions? Here are my thoughts (not necessarily suggesting the whole lot as a single plan, but it's better than a sharp stick in the eye): What about using a couple of bricks to add some space on top of the park grill and using the grid from a...

Whoa. That's rough. Don't know if this will help, but have her check out http://www.theotherwhitemeat.com/. We're here to help. We're all in this together.

    Fat n Ugly

So... ah... what style of Q is that? I have a list to try--Memphis, Kansas City, Carolina, Texas--but I think I'll pass on this one. Of course, I've heard that they smoke on their own, on a cold day, but I may have missed the point. But I digress....

First fatty, epic FAIL with Qview

Collaboration is an awesome thing! Here's what we've learned: 1. MORE SAUSAGE! 2. NEVER underestimate the theological aspects of smoke. 3. Assign the blame to the appropriate party. 4. No flies? Good Q! And from my own perspective: 5. BACON always makes it right!

    Stop me! Drum Smoker Intervention?

OK, I've had it for about three weeks, but I finally opened my new 55-gal drum to start my build. It seems to have a coating, but it's so thin and easily scratched, that I'm inclined to think I can burn it off easily. However, there is a dried glob of the original contents in the bottom: from...

Fatty worth seeing, q-view of course.

BEAUTIFUL! The Q-view alone is worth points! Innovation points! Thoughtful attention to detail and planning for a fantastic finished product and presentation. I half expected to see a bamboo fatty-rolling mat in the background. Forget the spiral. I'm going for the kaleidoscope/sushi effect!
