I quit years ago and never went back. I do not regret it in anyway. Do I still have cravings? Sometimes. But I work in a Heart Hospital and see the effects. Congrats on quiting! BIG thumbs up for you all!
I tried it on Maude and didn't like it. It unraveled quickly and bugged me with pieces all about. I have decided I will gas assist the heat and let the smoke out. I saw a build on TV and he actually had vents on the sides around the grill area. He said it smoked better.
I always say it is not the smoker but the pitmaster that makes good Q. Everyone is master of there own pit awards or not. If the folks at home like it then YOU are a master!
I use it with one mod. I get the fire really hot then poor on the chunk wood mixture. Ole Maude has a hard time with heat so I have to get her temp up first.
So... I took a trip to Napa and found a great little spice shop. Bought some Alder Smoked Salt. I loved it and used it all. So... the question is, has anyone smoked salt?
The only thing is my lady doesn't want the house smoked up for the get together. Me? I like the smell. Maybe I will start early and let cooler/towel rest for a few. I have done this with Prime Rib with excellent results. I want to make sandwiches. Maybe a brisket would be best. I just saw on DDD...
I am thinking of making a smoked version of something I saw on Guys DDD. The restaurant took roasts and "kissed" them on the flat top then baked for four hours in the oven. I am having an OU football party so I am thinking I will kiss with smoke the day before then finish in oven the next...
