    Combo Pellet smoker/Grill?

The Rider DLX 1200 is on of the best grills out there ,and a half decent smoker. But, it has one flaw. A bad controller.

    Initial burn

I disagree with this post. Pellet brand can maake a huge difference in smoke profile. I suggest you master your new grill before starting with pellet tubes. Clouds of white smoke are very uncommon on modern pellet grills with good pellets. Modern pellet grills have fixed some of the...

Pit Boss competition series vertical smoker advice

Ash is certainly a side product of pellets. You can however reduce ash by buying quality pellets. I prefer Bear Moutain and Oklahoma Joe's

    Pellet smoker advice?

The Rider DLX 1200 is what I have. Really great grill but because of the temperature controller, and poor product support I can not recommended it unless you grill more than smoke. The controller can be off by as much as 50F. I had to modify it so it is only 25F off. Has a lot of great...

    LSG or?

If just smoking then consider just smoking cabinets like smoker. Pellet grill-smoker are usually a compromise so they can do both.

In 67 years I have never seen a year like this where I live.

My shallow well was 40 feet deep but big tree roots got to it so had to have a new well. No one here drills shollow wells anymore because of new state regulations makees it too expensive.

In 67 years I have never seen a year like this where I live.

y'all might find this interesting in terms of past climate changes. I had a new 400 ft well dug. We are about 90 miles from the coast. The drillers know when they are getting near the proper depth when 200 million year old sea shells start piling up on the sand pile from the drilling. So...

60 Gal Offset build - Technical questions

What is rarely mentioned in a smoker build is matching the amount of smoker-firebox surface area to the size of the wood, and fire. Often in the past, large metal pits have given people the impression it is the metal holding the heat in, that makes a good temperature controlling smoker. Not...

    New smoker?

The pit boss are okay but the have a lot of dust in each bag. Not saying do not buy Pit Boss but do a good cleaning afterwards. Bear mountain are better than pit boss. Kingsford hickory is about equivalent to Bear Mountain. They do have less ash than BM. Oklahoma Joe's hickory is my...

    Sloppy Joe's

from another sloppy Joe view. We food process 5 oz of celery and 5 oz onion to a pound of meat plus BBQ , ketchup, and all kind of spices. A Mexican red sauce works well too.

    Sloppy Joe's

We make our own too. We freeze it in straight sided canning jelly jars.

    Lid Thermometer Recommendation

Just to add to my previous post. The heat flow in the chamber can make layers of heat. Add to that the bimetallic coil is long compared to the pin point of a thermocouple, or RTD. Even the meat, or water pan alter the area around the lid. I truly see your point through. I have installed...

Tree Nut Allergies, and Tree Nut Smoked Meat?

Had the family over for ribs recently. I knew my new son-in-law was allergic to tree nuts. When he arrived, my pellet smoker is putting out the wonderful aroma of Pecan, and Hickory. He took one whiff of the smoke then asked what pellets I was using. I said proudly, "Pecan, and Hickory. It...

    portable pellet smokers

Easiest roll around is Oklahoma Joe's with the large wheels. Poor temperature control, and poor product support. I suggest you think about what you want to cook on it then let that define size. When you write "portable" do you mean like put in your car or truck? Maybe you mean just roll it...
