    I've used branches from an apple tree and it worked just fine, you need to cure it tho, let it dry out , off the ground, so there's no humidity. some say you need to peel off the bark, but I don't think it matters myself. hope this helped

    all I do is open the bag and dump the brisket with the brine and spices into the pot, fill it with water and bring it to a boil, turn it down to simmer and let it simmer all day, add water as needed, when the brisket starts to come apart when you lift it with a carving fork, it's time to take it...

    I think the red color is from the blood in the meat mixing with the brine over time, I have no idea what the spices are in there but it sure is good

    I have a Sony Cybershot 4.1 megapixels when I'm taking pics for qviews I set the quality at vga/e-mail, makes a decent picture at a low res so it loads fine on here as an attachment

    well folks I'm doing and an old school st-patrick's day style cornedbeef and cabbage for superbowl sunday, I'm going to boil it this afternoon I got my cornedbeef already in it's brine and spices at a favorite deli of mine here in montreal, it's 12 lbs , and sells for 3.50 a lb asis in the bag...

    I'm going to be making a corned beef and cabbage dinner for the superbowl this year. I've never tried making my own corned beef I've always bought it already in it's own vacuumed bag in it's brine. my question is, has anyone every tried making your own corned beef? and if so how did it go?

    nope no Bark, But the smoking was LONG AND SLOOOOOWWWW and the smoke ring was nice and thick with just enough rub to produce a nice sauce ok I'm gunna stop now before I get slapped with a wet thong lolololol
