How to Maximize smoke time with wood chunks or chips?

The chip pans are some kind of a coated steel, not really too heavy duty.  I think I am going to experiment with wrapping my chip pan air tight with foil and making only a few little holes to see what that does.

How to Maximize smoke time with wood chunks or chips?

What kind of smoke ring do you get with it?  I don't really want to modify my smoker or add another component if it is not absolutely necessary.  Not a real good reason but I hoping there is away for me to prolong my smoke times..

How to Maximize smoke time with wood chunks or chips?

I have noticed that every time I add chunks or chips to the pan, I only get an hour or so smoke if I am lucky.  I have also noticed that wood almost always ignites (even if I have soaked them).  One of the last times I had a long smoke I decided to fill up my chip pans with chunks and cover it...

Is a propane smoker worth it?

Komado style grills like the acorn are pretty cool and I wouldn't mind having one.  The only real problem I see is you are a bit limited with the quantity of food you can cook, but if you don't need to cook more than a but or 2 you would be in good shape.

Is a propane smoker worth it?

You should be able to find the two door model for a similar price.  You will get the added benefit of not having to let all of your heat and smoke out when you want to add wood chips/chunk.  Masterbuild smoker is a very popular model and will certainly get the job done.  Keep in mind that you...

Is a propane smoker worth it?

I've never tried to smoke on a propane grill but I think the guys already nailed the main points.  Another thing to consider is space, you will be very limited to what you can cook on a propane grill vs. a smoker. Also, look in to the smoke hollow propane smokers, I believe the manufacturing...

    Best smoker under $400

Glad the smoke hollow is working for you, I have been happy with mine.  My biggest complaint is I am burning through propane very fast with the two burners.

Q-View & Graph! BBQ data for my wussy Briskey and the break-in of my new offset!

Beautiful looking brisket!  Maybe foiling a little sooner may help with dryness, but I am not expert-I am still searching for the perect brisket.  I usually don't foil mine and they come out pretty good but I am thinking about foiling next time at 160-165.

    ? about 2 different smokers

Biggest cons with that particular komodo are lack of cooking space and probably build quality.  Lowes carries a similar komodo that has decent build quality but still require mods to maintain temps (at least from what Ive read).

    Brisket over mesquite w/ Qview

Nice looking flat, was it very moist?  I am still trying to get the moist flat mastered-I think I will have to go with the foil. For the point you should try some burnt ends.

Landmann 3895GWLA “Wide Easy Access” 2-Drawer Vertical Gas Smoker Review

A picture with all the racks in and the door opened would be useful :)  i am guessing it holds 4 racks?  Did you consider the smoke hollow 44" inch model, seems to be around the same price point of 400 online- I found mine locally for 300 minus the floor model discount.  Not to many people know...

    Brisket Pics from Yesterday :)

I think my next brisket will be either wrapped or injected or BOTH .  The brisket was tasty but you know how it is-always going to chase perfection. I love smoking at 225 with out wrapping it, espeically love that hunk of charcoal that comes out of the pit.  Have you been completely satisified...

Ye Ole Brisket (My First Attempt...Ever!) 7/15/12

good looking smoke ring! Looks good for a first try.  It is difficult to get that flat nice and juicy.  I just did one and the flat was OK but not super moist.  I am still chasing that part of the brisket.

    Brisket Pics from Yesterday :)

Brisket came out pretty good, I didn't wrap it, in fact I didn't touch it (other than a couple of pokes) until it was ready to come of the smoker.  The flat was tender and tasty not dry but not super moist either.  I may try using foil or injection next time, seems very difficult to the super...
