Well I have decided to build a small Smoker that is portable for camping and such.
I am using a 40 pound propane tank.
I met a great guy today who does metal work and helped me with my fire box and cut some stuff for me, even gave me a lot
of cool free pieces. I would have liked the FB to be...
Well, when I showed up he was literally using his sandblaster on a grill, with another grill in line for later, (he builds lots of grills)
I got my tank out and his sandblaster for some reason took a dump and just kept clogging up. so I'm back to grinding and sanding.
still gathering parts, and learning about smoker building. I got a good start. still have to sand down the tank, (had a sand blaster lined up but it had issues when I got there) then I can start piecing it together. I found a great local guy that gave me most of the steel and even cut out my...
Well I found a super nice guy through facebook that isnt exactly a business but does metal work and such and he said I can use use his sandblaster free if if I provide the media, so I'm headed over there in about an hour.
Well I a building a mini reverse flow smoker. I bought a 40 pound propane tank, and have spent a couple of hours stripping it with chemical stripper. not sure what to do next because quite a bit of paint is still on it, I'm thinking hit it with a wire wheel, then sandpaper and maybe the wire...
from the pics of the Oklahoma Joe Highland the pipe is on the opposite side from the fire box, if you want the benefit of the reverse flow you need to have a pipe on the other end (near the fire box), so the smoke will travel over the food, other wise it will simply go under the food and the...
I have a question, I am building a small reverse flow smoker, 12"x24", is 1/8th inch thick enough for the baffle plate? I making it portable and trying to keep the weight down. thanks in advance.
If I am using a 40 pound propane tank, when using the Feldon calculator do I use the box marked "cylinder type cooking chamber" or "tank Cooking chamber" this may sound dumb but a tank can be round or oblong. not sure what they call a "tank". I do realize propane comes in a "tank", and many are...
I recently joined this forum since I want to build a small reverse flow smoker, (about a 20 gallon size), and I have seen how a reverse flow works, and I was just thinking why not drill a few small holes in the plate that guides the smoke to the other end and helps provide even heat over the...
Awesome, this is why I joined this forum, I'm looking to build a small reverse flow smoker, its just me and wife, and I would like to be able to load it myself when I go camping and stuff. I may borrow your ideas.
I just found this forum and the thread with lots of smoker builds. I noticed most all are quite big. It's just me and the wife now (kids have moved out). and I would like to build a smoker but I also would like it smaller and easy to move around or load up for camping if I want. Why are most so...
hay, I am from Arkansas, I grill 2-3 times a week and am wanting to get into smoking my meat. up until now I used the little chip holders that fit between the flavor bars on my gas grill, but want to build a dedicated smoker.
