Those are some impressive numbers. If I get half the numbers you got I will be elated. I just retired my ECB, so I am ready to do some real smokin'. The ECB is a PITA. I am in the middle of my UDS build. The only thing I need is a lid. Where to get one? I looked on Craigslist and ebay...
That's some really good info there. This was my route, beverage factory, in-laws moved--took there one year old fridge... I have gotten about 7 kegs out of my 5# tank and it is still running strong. I wouldn't hesitate to go with the beverage factory on ebay or through their website. Good...
Well, I just found this thread the other day and thought I would add to it:
The Full View...
I installed a digital thermo for good measure...
I tagged it with a local companies brand...
One of the beer...
One of the freezer...
I just bought some pork spare ribs from a local meat market for $0.99 a pound. That is taking me back to the old days! It was great to get 7 slabs at 16.45lbs and pay that price for them. Score!
It may be 2 years old, but since I just joined I am looking at it through fresh eyes. Well Done!
I agree with still tasting good...and it is hard to let beer go to waste, imo!
Thanks for the update.
Yeah, it kind of got forgotten in the winter months, so I played catch up. A new baby will do that to a keg...and yes my friends didn't come over much during that time.
I know I am grave digging, but I have to add my $.02. Owning a kegerator and smoking meat are very similar, you have to monitor them closely the first few w/ lots of trial and error, then you can set and forget when it is all dialed in.
And just an added note on the life of keg beer...
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I was trying to use the minion method, but didn't have it narrowed down this well -- as far as quantities. I will definitely be taking your advice for the next smoke. Thanks!
My first smoke was the same way. I found a cheap charcoal mini grill and used the parts in it to make the grate. I plan on using some of the other pieces to make my ecb even better.
I am in the same boat. I need some advice when it comes to really getting the smoking to roll.
Okay my next question, when smoking my ribs and using the ecb, what is the recommended method when adding wood to my coals? Do I add a few at the start and continue adding? Do I add a lot at the beginning and not add more? DO I add wood directly on top of the coals in the ecb or do I get a...
Definitely didn't taste bad...my wife enjoyed the outside. The ribs turned out great! I would personally like it to be moist, though. I foiled them on the second two hours. I used a store bought Dave's Awesome Rub or something like that. I didn't spritz or glaze at all. I was wondering if...
