    Question about brinkman ECB smokers

Hell, if you lived close to me, I would give you my ECB. I can't imagine even using it again after using the uds. All you would need would be handles and an aftermarket temp gauge.

    uds on craigslist

Well the UDS is a sweet smoker. I wouldn't pay that much, mine cost $83.60 with a little patience in supplies. If you want to skip all the do it yourself parts then spend the $200. You won't be disappointed in the cooker itself. I just smoked on mine this weekend and it held it's temp for...

I wouldn't use the antifreeze as a UDS.

Believe me, you have the skills! If you have a drill and a home store, you can do it. Trust me.

    First Brisket - w/Qview

You will love smoking a shoulder! My family loves them. On a side note, my dad just brought me over some pieces of his apple tree he cut down last year! By the way, nice looking brisket.

    Question about brinkman ECB smokers

I second the UDS. Spend a little time and make yours. I smoked a pork shoulder yesterday for 9 hours and a whole chicken. I let the temp go after I finished smoking the meat and it went on at temp, about 235 or so, for 13-14 hours. That is about 9lbs, at the beginning only, of charcoal with...

    My Smoke Today

Yeah I thought the same thing, so I took out the probe and tried a different, meatier, spot. Got the same reading. The bark is every bit as good as it looks, trust me!!!

    My Smoke Today

Well, I finished off the chicken, after sticking it in the fridge until dinner, on the propane grill for 4 minutes a side. Turned out good, but will have to figure out why it smoked so fast and try to control that next time. Next came the finished product (8lbs pork shoulder): A little...

Those look really good and great job on the first time through. If you hadn't said it was your first time smoking them I wouldn't have known.

    My Smoke Today

The last degree is just toying with me right now. I am going to pull the pork off the smoker at 195F and it got to 194F and then dropped two degrees. It is back up to 193F and just waiting to get past "THE WALL". I guess that means I need to drink a beer and just relax. I sure am glad I built...

    My Smoke Today

Just pulled the chicken. It was at 165F in about 1hour45min. That was way too fast. It was cooking at about 260-270F. I don't know what happened...I was expecting about 4 hours of smoke. Well, I plan to let it sit for about 2.5 hours before dinner. I took a picture and will post later...

    My Smoke Today

Today I have the following planned: Put an 8.5lbs PorK Shoulder on the smoker around 8am. Have it all rubbed and ready to smoke. Put a whole chicken on the smoker a few hours later and let her smoke. The chicken is in the brine right now and ready to smoke. We will eat the chicken tonight...

Had a little fun on Friday!

A little Q-view courtesy of some advice from this place. Just thought I would share. The shoulder took about 8 hours and the ribs took 6. Used my UDS and it worked like a dream or drum whichever you prefer.

    Charcoal Basket for UDS

Yeah, he was extremely friendly. He even got the forklift out to get a few sheets down of scrap. I got exactly what I wanted and he rounded it for me. With the tools he had it took no time flat. My brinkman frustrated me to no end, so I wanted an efficient cooker. I just finished my UDS and...
