I just read yesterday they they can be repacked in non iodized salt and put in the refrigerator for up to a year. I tried to find the website I was on to refer you to, but my history got deleted with computer issues today.
Its a great mixer, I have been very happy with mine. I just mixed up 30# of various sausage, brats, and kielbasa to be stuffed and smoked tomorrow. It seems to work well turning the hand crank clockwise for a bit then counterclockwise also, mixes the spices in very well!
Just unboxed and put the smoker together and hour ago, this sucker is the size of my recliner! Got it outside seasoning it now after wiping out with soap and water. I ran it for 35 minutes at 275 until it stopped smoking then shut her down and sprayed the inside with Pam Spray and fired it back...
