Heavy duty extension cords and electric smoker?

Loads like hearing elements are the least affected by extension cords. You don't have start up currents (like say an air compressor or a fridge) so as long as you have less than 1500 watts and its under a 100' run you should never have a problem as long as you use at a minimum a 12 gauge cord...

Baby backs - 3 racks on the mini WSM w/ qview

They were awesome. They lost a little bit by pulling them early then reheating but best I've made. Used a bobby flay rub recipie then a shot of coors light and butter in the foil and wow. Smoke went well too. Ended up getting access to a Truck full of Apple wood too from my brother in laws...

Baby backs - 3 racks on the mini WSM w/ qview

Started these at 9:00 am. Used a brinkman rib rack and had to cut off 1 bone off of two of them and then cut the 3rd rack in half. Forgot to take a picture when they were in the rack Here they are after being rubbed overnight Did 2 hours in the rack then they will be done with the foil in...

    Reheating ribs

I plan on smoking 3 racks of baby backs tomorrow and then bringing them over to my brother in laws house and heating them up/saucing them on his grill at dinner time. They will likely be off the grill smoker for 3-4 hours before getting heated back up. Here is my plan let me know what you would...

    28 gallon build

I'm not doing a reverse flow. At least not right off the bat. Just a standard offset smoker. If I build this one with any success I will likely build one larger that is a reverse flow. Just want to see how I like the whole stick burner experience. Very little money invested to make this one...

Won't that cause an issue with grease dripping down into the firebox?

    28 gallon build

Well I got the pipe welded into the bottom of the cook chamber. Then my son decided he was going to be a screamer (3months old) so that interrupted progress until after dinner.

    28 gallon build

25.87 square inches. I'll have to double check that pipe I used but I'm within a square inch or two of that (23.5-24.5 I can't recall the exact inside diameter but I remember I measured again and it was bigger than the 5.25" I posted above.)

    28 gallon build

Everything comes out right about where I had it before minus the exhaust stack. According to that formula I need either about a 45" 2" stack 28" 2.5" or a 20" 3" stack. I already bought the stuff for the 2" so I will likely do a test run with that. Driving a larger hole and welding in a larger...

The Feldons calc. I'm a little big in the firebox opening but I'm within 5-7% of the numbers it gave me

    Exhaust Stack Heights

Not to hijack you're thread but I don't seem to be getting any attention on my build thread I have a question about heights... Per the calculator I can use either 2" @ 36" tall or 3" @ 17" tall. I need a 3" piece of pipe anyway for the firebox intake so is there any real downsides to the...

    MES 40

I'd love to have one. I feel like I would smoke food more often with something like that. The mini WSM is pretty set it and forget it but not on that level. Just in time to put some meat in it for the 4th

Drilled the hole in the firebox tank and got the pipe in there (barely fits in the hole from a 6" hole saw) bout burnt up my drill doing it so I held off from doing the other hole in the cook chamber. I'll bring home one of our big low speed drills from work to drill the other hole this weekend...
