Rec Tec Camp Chef Sear Box add-on

More details: making the cutout in the sear box. The sear box has to be mounted so that the mounting bolts don't interfere with the grate support inside the RT340. This means that the mounting holes can't be any higher than the top edge of the RT340 handle mounting holes. Make a cardboard...

Rec Tec Camp Chef Sear Box add-on

TL;DR - it's an easy mod, fits and looks good. I bought a Rec Tec RT340 to replace an aging Weber Genesis and Masterbuilt bullet smoker. The RT340 is great, but sometimes I just want to sear something or quick grill a salmon burger. I've solved this by adding a Camp Chef sear box to the RT340...

Camp Chef Sear Box on Rec Tec Trailblazer?

Good point - something to watch out for. The cute little bucket on the Trailblazer doesn't hold much either, but it would be easy to simply use a bigger one or put a 5 gallon one underneath to catch overflow. That wouldn't be so easy with the sear box. Can any sear box owners give me the...

Camp Chef Sear Box on Rec Tec Trailblazer?

Having a tough time getting actual dimensions. I did get a dimensioned drawing from Camp Chef showing the mounting hole pattern on the grill. I found an online picture of the right side of the sear box and scaled that as well as I could figure. Looks like it might actually work so that the Rec...

roll call on brands of pellet grill

Rec Tec Trailblazer for me. Just the right size and seems like better quality than most other smaller pellet grills. I'll be doing a lot of mods and will try to post progress.

Pizza; use a stone/iron right on the grate????

What type of grill were you using when you had your disappointing experience?

New here, finding my way around

Grill grates are my fallback. One advantage of the sear box is that I think it would be quicker than firing up the pellet grill when all I need to do is sear. The ideal solution would be if I can hack the sear box so that the Rec Tec grease drains into the sear box grease tray. Here's a picture...

Pizza; use a stone/iron right on the grate????

Used a stone in my gasser but was never happy with the results. I'm interested in trying a steel in my new pellet grill. They're stupid expensive, though. Have to pick through the scrap pile and see what I can find.

New here, finding my way around

It's a propane fired small rectangular grill that gets really hot. Camp Chef provides it as an option on their pellet grills, but they also sell it by itself. I'm hoping to find out if it can be adapted to my grill.

New here, finding my way around

Good morning - I'm a long-time wood heat enthusiast, even started a business selling monitoring and control systems. I have lots of things that burn stuff and make heat. Some of them are for cooking food. Our little ones are grown and gone, so I'm usually cooking for two, and almost never more...

I'm in Addison county, an hour or so south of you. Maybe have to share some Q and a home-brew.

Camp Chef Sear Box on Rec Tec Trailblazer?

If I can't make it work I'll probably try the Grillgrates sear plates for the Trailblazer, but I'd rather not fire up the Trailblazer every time I need a hot grill. What I'm *really* hoping is that I can punch a hole in the side of the CC Sear Box so that the Rec Tec grease drain will empty...

Camp Chef Sear Box on Rec Tec Trailblazer?

Quick background: My old faithful Weber Genesis is getting tired and my little bullet smoker is pretty much done. I just got a Rec Tec Trailblazer - just the right size for me, and it does a nice job with both smoking and grilling. It's *almost* perfect for my needs, but.... Sometimes I just...
