    Smoked Mushrooms!!

Well, I gave 'em a whirl over the weekend, didn't take any pics, sorry. Did two batches, one with hot sausage, minced garlic, onion and cheddar cheese. The other with cream cheese, minced garlic, jalapino and cilantro. Both batches I topped with bacon. Put 'em in an aluminum pan and smoked with...

    Smoked Mushrooms!!

Thanks for the post. What a great idea, can't believe I never though of smoking shrooms. Going to try them this weekend. I'm thinking hot sausage, with garlic, jalapeno, bacon and cheese. Any thoughts on cook time, if I cook them just in the smoker?

    Resetting Et-73

I'm sure I tried that and that it wiped out the temps that I had programmed in.

    Resetting Et-73

Is there a way to do a quick reset, when the smoker goes above or below the set temp? For example, I set the low smoker temp for 225, the smoker temp drops below 225 and the alarm sounds. Is there a way to reset the alarm without having to reprogram all the temps back in?

    Too much smoke?

I agree, if you are going to use a smoker and oven, smoke it first. With my GOSM, I put in a 3-4 small chunks and turn the smoker on high. By the time the smoke is rollin' heavy, I the dial back to my cruisin' temp. By the time the smoke mellows down to the thin blue, the smoker temp is back...

3-2-1 Memorial day ribs a bust, help!! (warning - long post :)

I agree that the problem could be your lid thermometer. The one in my GOSM reads 25 degrees hotter than the grate temp.

    Reheating pulled pork

OK, the results are in. Reheated in the oven, on 175 for three hours. Pork had great flavor but, came out mushy. My mistake was adding apple juice/ J.D. mix before refridging, because I was worried about it drying out. I think the acid in the juice caused the meat to break down to much and give...

    Reheating pulled pork

It's sitting at 195 right now. Had to move it to the oven, due to a down pour. It was done smoking and all foiled up, anyway. I spritzed with apple juice/Jack Daniels every hour and poured some in when I foiled. I was thinking that I would shut off the oven and leave them in there, foiled, for...

    Reheating pulled pork

I'm cooking 2-8lbs. butts for a memorial day party, starting at 1pm. I would like to do my smoking Sunday, during the day so, I don't have to be up all night Sunday night/Monday morning. Should I pull the pork and add finishing sauce before putting in the fridge? Any comments or suggestions on...

    corn on the cob

Does it pick up much smoke flavor?

    corn on the cob

Will the corn dry out too much, if you don't wrap it in foil? I'd like to get a little smoke on the corn. Anyone tried smoking corn, without wrapping it? I usually boil my corn for 5-6 min., I like it more on the crisp side, than on the mushy side. 30 mins at 225 seem like too long.

    Smoked Baked Potatoes

Potatoes don't seem to pick up much of the smoke flavor. It's probably because of the skin and the density of the potato. It's more of a conveniance, if you're smokin' other stuff. Most veggies will pick up the smoke flavor, though. Try peppers, onions, mushrooms, ect...Mmmmmmmm

    Jerky Smoking

Gonna have my first go at jerky tomorrow. I have some London broil marinating in teriyaki (store bought) and think I will sprinkle with montreal steak seasoning. Gonna keep it simple for my first try. Not sure if I'm going to use hickory, apple, cherry or mesquite for smoke. I think you're...
