MAVERICK ET-732's - Now In Stock!!

Checked it in boiling water. At the altitude that I live at, the boiling point of water is just a hair under 203f and it was bouncing between 202 and 203.

Pork Shots (Spicy Pork Caramel Candy (The Ultimate Panty Dropper))

Bacon, brown sugar, chipotle, sausage...you could also consider calling them crack cakes. I think that I might try some tomorrow night, but I'll just make enough for dessert.

MAVERICK ET-732's - Now In Stock!!

Got home today, checked the mail and it was there. I'll have to make a little rack to hang it from so that the probe leads reach all levels and run it through something like a weatherproof electrical connector, but that'll be easy enough. This will be so much better than having to open the...

    Easter Ham Suggestions

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I've always let others deal with the ham, but now that I can put some smoke on the stuff, I'll start taking it over. That and turkeys are about the only things that I'd not jump right in and do my self. I'll see what I can find on such short notice, and if I...

    Easter Ham Suggestions

I had a conversation with my mother about Easter dinner today and it went something like this: Me: So, do you think that I ought to go out and shoot a couple of bunnies and throw them in the pit for Easter or do... Her: YOU'RE GETTING A HAM!!!!! I think the ham bit was more of a reaction to...

    BR’s Blackberry Chipotle BBQ Sauce

Those recipes look great. I have a close friend who is allergic to anything with tomatoes in it, so I have experimented with similar recipes sans the ketchup. I've also been known to use red chile instead of chipotle and raspberries also work well. I'd not thought of using pineapple juice though.

    Transplanted New Mexican newbie

I'm right down the hill from you and new here myself. If you've worked as a firefighter on Kirtland for more than a couple of years then you ought to know Jim L. Instead of actually posting his very unique last name, I'll just say that he is retired, likes Irish Whiskey, has his FFL and speaks...

    Hello from Albuquerque

Haha, I have Lotaburger's ## programmed into my cell so I can call it in and have it ready when I get there. Their chile is hotter than it was a year ago, but still mild compared to what it used to be. As for green chile, my recommendation is to plan a trip about, oh, late Septemberish and...

MAVERICK ET-732's - Now In Stock!!

Just ordered one. I would really need two dial thermometers to learn the temperature profile of my pit and two of them would be at least as expensive as one of the ET732s anyway. This way I can just put the probe wherever I want once I figure out how I'm going to run the cables. Thanks for...

Who's got the BEST burger recipe?

I'm normally pretty simple with my burgers.  I make some decent sized pattys, I use garlic salt and pepper on them, and when I flip them, I put green chile, bacon and cheese on them and shut the grill lid so that the cheese becomes all melty and good with the added benefit of helping to keep the...

Hello from Angel Fire, New Mexico

If smokers are like firearms, I might as well just give up now.  Wait, both involve fire, and I can use one to feed the other.

    Elk roast?

When you say inject it, what would you inject it with?  I was discussing this with a guy in town for the Balloon Fiesta a couple of years ago and he said that he had some concoction based on olive oil that he used on Elk and he said it turned out fairly moist and also said that it was...

    Hello from Albuquerque

Well, I wanted a bbq pit and I wanted to learn how to lay brick, so, without ever having laid a brick in my life, I started on a gigantic masonry pit.  As of now, all it is missing is some chimney caps and a thermometer. My brickwork isn't as nice as a professional's, but I did have fun even...
