I just got my MES 30" Electric Smoker and I am going big for the first smoke... this is my first Boston Butt and probably my fifth time ever smoking something. I have already seasoned the smoker and I will be getting up at 5AM to start this one up. I am using Billbo's World Famous Rub and also...
I will most likley buy the AMNPS but it wont be here in time for me to do my BB in 2 days... so it just worries me the way people are saying there won't be smoke and my BB might not come out smokey and tasty.
It's strange that so many people recommend the MES but it doesn't produce good smoke? I'm confused by this... it is a smoker... wouldn't that be an important part of the smoker being a good one?
I just got my new MES 30" electric smoker and I am trying to figure out where to smoke. I have an attached carport that has two walls (the side of the house and the mud/laundry room and the rest is open (front and the right side). The ceiling is about 14 feet high. I am curious if I set my...
Ok... since I read these replies... I already went in and ordered the digital one (Masterbuilt 20070910) since you guys recommended it. I ordered it for rush deliver to be here by tomorrow.
I also ordered a Maverick ET-732 (the dual one).
So now I am all set... I can return the analog one...
I just realized the MES 30" I bought from Home Depot is not the digital version. Is this bad for a first timer? Should I take it back and get the digital one or will the one I got be a good one still?
I don't think there is a big difference in price... arg... I wanted to start smoking this week.
Save your money? I guess Tony's Chacheres is free... where can I pick it up?
/sarcasm
This recipe looks good and I am going to try it for my first smoke of the season, thanks Billbo!
Few questions about this post...
I have a MES 30"... should I get a digital thermometer also? Can you link me to an inexpensive one that will work for this?
I bought this yesterday: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Masterbuilt-30-in-Vertical-Electric-Smoker-20070612/202904341?N=1z1412s#.Ub8rbvmcd8E
I plan on using it tomorrow to make pulled pork.
I have never used an electric smoker and I only used a charcoal one for like 10 smokes... so im pretty new...
So everyone says the Brinkmann charcoal smoker thermometer is always inaccurate... whats a guy like me (can't build anything, mechanically handicapped) to do?
I bought a char-broil themometer (its for mounting I believe, not a probe) from the store, can I just put it inside and leave it there...
There's a meat butchering/packing place in Draper... I made my jerky from beef tenderloin because it was only $3.49 /lb at this place, turned out pretty good. I am making more jerky tonight, using eye of round steak because it was on sale at the store. I cut the pieces thicker this time. I am...
