    there is two 3 inch holes on the opposite side with a dampner. thought of trying to convert back to wood dont know how to work it out i put two bags of charcoal and wood chunks in  it and could not get it to go past 180 degrees. as it sits with propane i can get it up to 300 +

    Using a fuel oil tank for smoker

    I have read on this forum that alot of people say its okay yo use as smoker and  alot of people saying not to use. what is the diffrence of using a deisel, fuel oil, or propan? wouldnt they all have the same type of residue inside them? i want to build with a fuel oil tank wouldnt burning it...

    Thats one way to do it. I was gonna buy one but they wanted 20 bucks to hold 18 thought that was over priced and made one myself for free with stuff i had lying around the shop

    smoker built from air compressor tank or LP tank?

    couldnt get it up to 225 and not consistant. i used a burner from a turkey fryer. works awesome. i have to air inlets one under the pit at the bottom of the fire box and one on the other side that is adjustable. can get it over 300 with that burner and one 20lb tank will last 12hrs .

    I build my from a 80 gallon tank,works awesome. It was a very fun and moderatly hard to build. here is a pic of the one i built.

    Large propane project

    I am thinking  and planning  about the same thing. Planning on three shelves and the capabilty of smoking half a hog. It will be a trailer mounted smoker.

    Let's try this again.

    I have that same smoker and have been using it for 2 years now, i learned that on low it runs a little warm so i move my to the shade it stays right at 230 degrees. good luck and keep smoking!
