The pavilion is 12x20. The whole concrete slab is 20x40. Half will be the kitchen and the other half will be area for table and chairs or picnic table. I'm still undecided on furniture.
Like you I've had too many years in a noisy machine shop. Loud music didn't help either. It finally got bad enough that i was struggling to follow conversations.
I have some Oticon over the ears that I have had for about 9 months now. It took trying a couple different size domes and even the...
You are right about that. I just recently found this group and I can say that I do like it here. It is much more civilized and people seem to be here for the right reasons.
I need to just stay off of Reddit. Lol
Sounds like a pellet smoker would be a good option to consider. I switched to one a couple of years ago for many of the same reasons you stated. They're consistent and convenient. I've never had a problem getting bark and beautiful smoke ring. I've become a big fan of overnight cooks as well...
I've cooked on everything at one time or another and to me the real difference is in rubs, marinades, and technique. Maybe my pallet is just not that refined but the difference in the type of cooker is pretty negligible really.
I cooked for a long time on a cabinet smoker and then bought an...
It's been a while since I had an offset but I used to keep a coal bucket and coal shovel on hand. Sometimes it would be necessary to remove some of the coals to prevent buildup and maintain a lower temperature.
Probably not the safest thing to do but it worked for me.
I enjoy BBQ cooked on the offset but until I bought my pellet smoker I only got to cook a few times a year because of the time commitment it takes. My favorite is brisket so the time commitment just didn't allow me to cook as often as I'd like.
I bought a pellet smoker specifically to try...
I'm putting a shut off valve inside so I can winterize for the bad month's. I still have to figure out some way to blow air thru to get all of the water out though.
I looked at the Flame Tamer as well but it's made from thinner metal and just covers the area directly over the burn pot. The deflector from Smoke Daddy is much thicker steel and covers a much larger area. I think it does a better job of evening out the temperatures.
I was getting a burnt spot...
I have a Pit Boss Competition 850 and I think it is built very similar to the Austin XL.
Mine had a pretty bad hot spot right over the burn pot that was giving me problems. I found this heavy gauge deflector made by Smoke Daddy that is specifically designed for that purpose. After installing...
I like my Pellet Smoker but I wouldn't recommend one for replacing a grill. I know they say you can grill on them but the reality is something else. They are really two different things.
I even went as far a putting a heat deflector plate over the burn pot on mine to eliminate the hot spot so...
Very Nice! I'll be glad when I get as far along as you. I've got a long way to go...
I'd like to use the dye but I'm extending an existing patio so it will have to match that.
