I would definitely cook ahead of time and reheat. One thing about meat is it will be ready on its schedule not yours. Besides, it will make for a less stressfull day if most of the work is done beforehand.

I call BS. I have never cooked a brisket in less than 12 hrs, much less in 5 hrs. The last one was 14 lbs and took 17 hrs at 235 degrees.

The 18" tube is almost the same as lighting the tray a both ends. You will get the same amount of smoke as a full tray in half the time.

Well then, Dave would know. I used it to build mine but it's a vertical reverse flow. I would try going 8 inches between fb and CC with a diffuser plate to spread heat and smoke out.

CC is 24,159 cubic inches.
FB is 19,600 cubic inches (241% recommended size for your CC)
Recommended exhaust is 6" x 33" tall.
Recommend FB-CC is 14 1\8" circle.
