Goodness gracious, Kingsford makes a TON of ash. I had to dump my ash drawer because it was choking the fire. I've burned 20+#'s of lump and just filled it once. Oh well.
Why not just use the high heat Silicone to make the gasket instead. Run your bead on the Grill wait a few minutes then put you lid on with a piece of plastic wrap around the lip of the lid. The plastic wrap will keep the lit from sticking to the gasket until it cures.
Yummy - I did extra thermos as well as the stack extension. I also raised up the bottom grill with some 2" steel cut to 16 1/4" to raise the tuning plate and baffle above the firebox hole. That made a big difference. Looking forward to how the Horizon works.

LOL I just bought 30#'s of butt to smoke over the weekend. Does not last long here either, so If I'm going to invest the time, I'm going to make a ton of it.
