I hope someone finds some. I just finished rewiring my MES 40 I found on Craigslist for $25 this summer but at that price, wouldn't mind having a smaller backup. I am guessing it is going to be hard to find but hope some newbies find them. Great way to start at a price you can't even get a...
Doing another ham for football sunday!
Going to try the recommended blend of ingredients this time. Last time I did equal amounts of ingredients since I only saw the list of ingredients and not the recipe.
And the Bourbon I am using was about the cheapest I could find, Evan Williams

I am no expert on Bourbon or whiskey but I certainly would not use the Crown! That should either be done as shots or sipping while you are smoking!

I smoked it on its side the entire time. It was on about 6 hours total with temp varying between 200 and 220, the low end mostly because of recovery time following mopping.
I just followed the method in the original post above. It appeared that he had his laying on the side so I did that also...
Tried the Maple bourbon ham. WONDERFUL!
To me, this was my most successful smoke so far on new smoker. I used equal parts of all ingredients listed. Friend of mine who is a chef/cook suggested that next time I should half the salt and onion powder. Will try.

Giving it a shot today. Wind advisory and temps in mid 30s but the ROSE (royal oak electric) came right up to temp and is holding. Will try to get pics

DeltaTude and all
Thanks for all the input and no offense taken and definately not feeling abused. Me or my ROSE
I am sure that one day I will venture into something a step or two above what I have. The MES looks wonderful and I am sure it is as I see it all over SMF.
I had never used...
Got my rose a few days ago. First smoke got no smoke,,, or very little. Experimenting right now with the chip pan directly on the element. Also got a 13x9 or so aluminum pan for water. Just set it on the rack that previously held the water and chip pans. Getting smoke now so the test now is for...
It did seem to hold pretty well. On the seasoning stage, it zoomed right up to 300 +. Then when I put food on it took a while to climb up to 225 even on high. Once I got it tweaked to about 230 or so it held pretty good. Think where it did go off a little was after I added water and i ticked it...
Oh yea forgot one more thing on the plus side for electric.
Had it run on high (got about 325 out of it) for an hour, then ran roughly 6 hours for the food.
Total electric usage: 7.2kwh or roughly 86 cents at 12 cent per kwh.
Now there's another big plus for electric. Would have run me 5-8...
Thanks for all the responses.
Well went into Wally World yesterday and they had a Royal Oak Electric (guess that be a ROSE). I figured for the price, I couldnt go wrong. Got the preassembled display for what I thought at the time was an excellent price of $100. Of course then I had to find that...
Looking to upgrade from free round brinkman and have been looking at propane and electric.
Seems to me that electric would be a good bit cheaper to run.
Looking primarily at MES 30 versus the masterbuilt small or big box (or is it block?)
Is there really any significant pro or con as far as...
