Conngrats on the new WSM 22.5. Dollar for dollar it is arguably one of the best smokers out there.
As already mentioned, I'd get used to running it without a controller first and learn the vent settings.
Modifications are many, but gaskets at the door and at the lid are good options, as are...
I put the gasket material around the door opening as opposed to around the edges of the door itself. I have found that this works better with the stainless steel door.
Jealous Devil.
Second to that Kamado Joe Big Block.
I've used B&B, FOGO, Royal Oak, Cowboy, But Jealous Devil IMO tops them all. Some by a long shot.
I don't burn briquettes at all and haven't now for a few years.
Wow. I knew they were good, but this tears it.
I damaged the lid of my practically new Rec Tec RT590 a little over a year ago, using an abrasive pad on it shortly after I got it.
I could only see the damage in certain light, but it bugged me. This was a new grillI and I like for my...
A little late to this, but I have an 18 and a 22. I bought the 18 first and discovered that it was too small for what I wanted to do, which is similar to what the original poster mentioned that he was looking to do.
Go with the 22in and you won't look back.
I have used the Char Logs.
Biggest gripe is that they leave a lot of ash .
I have burned them to the point to where the entire log was ash. In other words, imagine one of the logs starting out black, and then after if had burned fully, it's roughly the same size, same shape, same everything...

If you think that a strong, heavy gauge firepot is going to be important to you, well then it may be something which sways your purchasing decision...
I don’t know why owners of one particular pellet grill tend to gravitate to a particular forum.
I tend strongly towards a belief that customer satisfaction has a lot to do with it.
One of the other well known barbecue fora seems to have a lot of satisfied MAK owners
You’ll see something of...
Thanks. I thought I saw it at $1899.
Oh, and Amazon comes up as a link in your post above as well.
WSM and Camp Chef came up as links in one of my prior posts.
Also look at posts #29 and #32. Links to other grills mentioned in those posts.
So no, it’s not just Rec Tec, and no, this forum...
I don't recall if this was discussed early on in the thread, but are we comparing pellet grills in similar price ranges?
Doesn't the LG900 have around a $1900.00 price tag?
If so, then that's headed into MAK or Cookshack price range.
I would agree that were one to run both grills side by side in the same weather, at the same temps and over a period of time for the average cook, or in a test actually cooking similar items, that this would be the good way to tell the difference between which one held heat best while consuming...
