Joe, With the lack of insulation, it really depends. Last week, I did 20# of chicken 127831. I kept one burner on high and the other one on low. If you pre-heat your smoker, you can get the smoke started and it should stay smoking, but...

A long time ago, I used an upright freezer for cold smoking bacon. Since then, the city where I was living put a ban on "White" products being left outside.
FYI, I have also used the box that my dishwasher came in. 128578

I have both. The electric is set it and forget it for the most part, but it needs a bunch of help in the smoke part. The XL 44, needs a way to control temp. Neither are perfect. But the electric with a pellet burner is pretty darn good.

So I have a question to all who have cracked plastic. When not in use, where do yo keep it?
My gen 1, 40", is going on five years now and I've never had any plastic problems. Having said that, it does live in my garage when not in use.

LOL Just George,
I have a 40" and it's been great for me. I never tried the MB smoke box, but most everyone who has one is happy with it. I have the 5x8 pellet smoker and it a bit finicky, but works well for the most part.
