MES control panel face blew off during storm, help!

It sits on my back deck. I didnt buy a cover for it because I dont know how the cover would fit over it with my mailbox mod attached to it. So its fully exposed to the weather. That is what I thought too, ill just push whats left of the buttons and get it to where I want it. But, that didnt...

MES control panel face blew off during storm, help!

I have model 20071514, the regular 30" with no window. I have a mailbox mod hooked up to it and it works great. Ive smoked many a butt this football season :) The problem is, last week we had a very windy storm and when I went out to put a butt on a couple days later, the facing of the control...

Letting pork butt rest after removing from smoker?

Ok, thats what I needed to know! So not to be a pain, but in the event that I am smoking and eating it soon after, is that 30-45 min rest with the foil on or off? I smoke til it its 165 or so then i wrap it in foil and put it into the oven until it hits 199 (as far as my thermometer goes) so...

Letting pork butt rest after removing from smoker?

Thanks guys, I will just shred it right out of the foil. I have been having very good success smoking it @ 250 for 5-6 hours until it hits 165 or so, then wrapping it in foil and putting it in the oven at 350 until done. I have been letting it sit in the towels and cooler for a few hours then...

Letting pork butt rest after removing from smoker?

So sometimes I can time it right and I remove the butt from the smoker an hour or so before we plan on eating it. I set it on the counter with a foil tent and let it rest. First question: foil tent or no? Main question: Most of the time I have to work Saturday mornings, so I end up putting the...

    Recent Pork Butt Success

The point being is that I wrapped the butt instead of letting it sit in the smoker (unwrapped) the entire time. It only takes the smoke in for so long anyway. Finishing it in the oven is more of a convenience thing, as long as its not in the middle of summer. Do you guys wrap yours at all...

    Recent Pork Butt Success

Ive been smoking butts for several years, but recently had added success, really by accident! Earlier this spring I was smoking a butt that was taking way too long to reach temp. The smoker read 250, but I was questioning weather or not it was that hot inside the smoker. I was running out of...

One more "Mail Box Mod" for the AMNPS and the MES30 ...NEW PICTURES FOR ATTACHING ELBOW TO MAILBOX

I went to my local menards and bought a mailbox this weekend. It just said "steel", so I dont know if its galvanized or not. Shoulder matter tho, right? I had a friend cut me a hole for it in the back and I hooked it up. It seemed to work pretty good! A couple of questions tho, I could see some...

Meat thermometer that I can monitor remotely with my smart phone?

Does such a thing exist? I dropped the send unit my old digital thermometer and it doesn't seem to send a signal anymore. My MES2 has a built in thermometer that is fairly accurate, but I want to buy a digital one that works remotely in 2 ways: Sends signal to digital receiver inside my living...

AMNPS not staying lit in MES2 30" electric smoker

I know there have been threads about this, I searched google too. I havent been able to find the right answer so far. So anyway, I have the AMNPS, and an MES gen 2 30" smoker. I got the AMNPS last fall, and after a couple of tries, I got the AMNPS to light correctly and burn all the way thru...

    Smoking 5 butts, help please!

thanks for the replies! We have decided it would be best to smoke them the day before, shred them and put them in aluminum pans, cover and refrigerate.  That way all they would need to do is heat them up. Now the question is, how to reheat? Im guessing placing the aluminum pans (covered in foil)...

    Smoking 5 butts, help please!

A friend asked me to help her out with food for an anniversary party. I will need to smoke about 5, 8lb butts. I have smoked many butts, but only one at a time. I was hoping some of you seasoned smoke vets could help me out. First question, how much should I figure each person may eat? 1/4lb...

Messed up some babybacks, can they be saved?

I forgot to mention, I always nuke my pellets for 60 secs, stir, then another 60 secs.

Messed up some babybacks, can they be saved?

Update: I put them back on the smoker (after 5 days in the fridge!) and kept them in the smoker for 2 hours. I wish I had put a light layer of bbq sauce on them, but otherwise, I think I can officially call them "saved". Thanks! On a side note, I noticed the pellets  in my A-Maze-n smoker tray...
