    Started raining and I couldn't keep temp anymore. Had to move it to the oven with an internal temp of ~170.

    Temp seems to have stalled at 150. I've been keeping the smoker from 190 to 230. That seems to be the temp it wants to stay with the dampers full open.

    Thanks guys. Just threw some potatos on the smoker also. There's all that empty pace so I figured why not :-) Yeah, It's just a cheapo but it seems to seal pretty well and I think should serve me fine a while at least until I learn more about this great art.

    Kinda looking to stay at or below about $400 for now. I have pretty good fabrication skills and thought about building my own but as of now I don't have the knowledge about smoking to know what makes one good or bad.

    Just dropping by to get a start learning about the art of smoking. I don't have a smoker yet. It looks as if there is a lot of great info on here and I hope get some recommendations on a good first smoker
