    How about having one tank for a horizonal smoker and the other standing up at the end of the horizonal opposite the firebox?  That way it would become a vertical smoker for bacon , link sausage, Canadian bacon..   and so forth.  Put a flue between the two that shuts off the smoke and heat to one...

    Another source for a tank is an air compressor tank.  No worrys about fumes when cutting. I would still be careful with the cutting and follow proper procedures.  We used to put alchol in ours in the winter..
