Pecan shells
They should work fine. I think any nut shell is good for smoking and pecan perhaps the best. I use peanut shells regularly for my fish and chicken and I think the shells hold some nut oils that really add some wonderful flavor. I always keep some handy when smoking beef or pork roasts too...- captturbo
