Not familiar with the BBQ along the way but when you get to the NC/SC border stop at a place called South of the Border. There are a number of interesting establishments there.
I haven't used maple syrup powder but I have used Cherry Jello powder in my rub. Everyone seems to love it. I am sure you would get the same results with the maple.
Vanquero, your trash can mixture reminds me of a mixture we used to make at the Library( a local beer joint near the USL campus in the mid 60's) when I was in college. We would get a pitcher of beer and an empty pitcher and a gallon of Sweet Vino and mix it half and half in the two pitchers...
We finally got clear skies last night but the temp here,15 miles south of Baton Rouge, got down to 20 with a wind chill of 8. No matter how hard I tried I just couldn't convince these old bones to get out in the cold. Clouds are back tonight. Hopefully I will get to see it before it drops from view.

Thanks Pellet, I know what you mean. This is our only grandchild that we will ever have. I am nearly 70 and was beginning to think we wouldn't have one. My daughter is 40 and can't have any more and my son is a confirmed bachelor so you know she has Paw Paw wrapped around her little finger and...
Olivia just made two on Nov. 9th. We have to play the video of the movie "Frozen" over and over again for her. When ever the song "Let It Go" comes on she has to perform her own version of the song. I know this has nothing to do with smoking but is a cute video.
