    First pork butt smoke!

    So I'm going to give it a go. Trying to get the fire going now. Temp is a little high so I'm letting the charcoal burn down a little hoping it gets to 250. In the meantime, I've been letting my 9 lb butt rest with the rub on it. Wish me luck!!

    Thank you!!! Final question...what should I use as a rub and how long should it sit with the rub on it before putting in the smoker? This will be my first smoked pork butt.

    New to smoking

    Hi all! I'm a new smoker from Michigan, and I'm so happy to have found this group! I just bought a chat griller offset smoker/grill combo and am very nervous to try smoking for the first time! Any advice is appreciated!!!
