well I'm not sure... I've never owned the standard type, but occasionally I'll pick it up with some pliers and blow in the holes to remind it that I want action. She responds accordingly.
I'm sort of a tightwad, so I use the Folgers brand of fluid.
To the left is some well seasoned orange tree wood that I'm getting ready to throw some chicken at. I'm going with a Yucatan-style achiote marinade.. thinking tacos or something.
I remove it and trim up/slice off whatever else is underneath, because it gets in the way of making more bark. Definitely a fan of the picnic, myself.. happy smokin'.
not sure how handy you are, but take off whatever parts that expose where the rest of the cord leads to and reattach the wires from what's left of the plug end.. maybe a screw driver and wire strippers do the job.. worse case a soldering iron. fix that puppy and get rolling.
Reminds me of a reverse flow plate idea I had recently... this is a thermodynamics idea mostly...
the plate extends into the chamber like the usual, but the thrust here is that the fins are oriented in the opposite direction than what you've drawn. They instead run in the longitude.. in...
