I currently have the Maverick ET-7. After 6 smokes the original no-name batteries are still working and I am able to get at least 40ft of reliable range. I have not tested any further than that. On one smoke I did lose communication about 3 times but it has not happened since. It could have...
Last Thanksgiving I smoked two injected 12 pound turkey and they turned out great. Both birds were super juicy. You can easily created your own injection sauce. Grind up about 3-4 tablespoons of your favorite seasoning in a blender or coffee bean grinder until it looks like flour. Add the...
I bet your local gas company or gas appliance store could give you some great help. This forum below had some detailed discussions at one time so perhaps searching around there may provide some useful info.

The birds tasted great. My family wolfed down a good portion of one of the birds and two hours later both turkeys were deboned and the meat was chilling in the frig. Later that night after everyone had left I noticed only one small bag of turkey left in the frig. So much for days of leftovers.
At 5:30AM they went on and at 9:30AM the internal temps were 165F for the top bird and 151F for the bottom bird. I took each of the out when they hit 180F and let them sit for 30 minutes. As I was cutting the breast the juice was really flowing out and still steaming a little.
I have a GOSM Big Block smoker. For Thanksgiving I plan to smoke two 12 pound turkeys and have a few questions for other GOSM owners. I will start the Big Block off at 275F since that is as high as my Block Block will go when chilly outside. I will inject the turkeys and use pecan wood for...
I have heard that Wal-Mart carries the cheaper models. All I have been able to determine is that they carry the 16" and the 20" (Wide Body) wide models.
I just had lunch at Big Bob Gibson's BBQ. It was super good as usual. I had the brisket but left with a gallon of brunswick stew and a few bottles of their famous red BBQ sauce. I did not get the white sauce since I can get it sometimes at our local Wal-Mart. The lunch reminded me of all of...
I have used both charcoal and propane smokers and never had a problem getting great smoke flavor and a beautiful smoke ring. There are also some wood smokers out there with a water pan. The water pan helps to mantain proper lower smoking temperatures and help to retain some of the meat...
I have use injectors for years. The best ones comes from your local feed store. I prefer the larger injectors with the larger needle. I have the best luck with the needles that have the end cut off at a slant. I rarely purchase injection sauce since I usually make my own. It is quite easy...
mrgrumpy,
Try running your temp probe wires thru the smokestack or a vent to eliminate that crushing sound you get when the temp probe wires are passing thru under the lid lip.
Cajun Cooker was available in the late 70's. I had a friend that had the single and in 1980 I purchased a double Cajun Cooker. It is still in working condition. The charcoal pan was replaced about 5 years ago and it was ordered from Brinkman.
If they want $499 for the stainless steel Big Block version then I will be quite happy with the $189 non-stainless steel Big Block I currently have. In a few years I will replace it for something better or another non-stainless steel Big Block and still may have a few bucks left in my pocket...
