    Reusing turkey fryer oil

Do you guys save and reuse the oil from your turkey fryer? 3 gallons of peanut oil is a little on the expensive side. What do you guys do with your oil when you are done with thanksgiving? John

    First Turkey results...

Good looking birds, I only did one in the smoker but I did not get anywhere near as much liquid out of them as you. Did you start with anything in the water pan? or did all of that come from the birds?

    First Turkey Smoke/Fry

Thanks Debi, Here is a pic of the second bird after it came out of the fryer. Both birds were very good, but the fried one seemed to be the favorite.

    First Turkey Smoke/Fry

Pulled it out at about 2 hrs and 15 minutes. I had lowered the temp in the smoker a bit and tented the breast. Final temps as I measured are 166 breast and about 172 in the thigh. I am not use to the built in thermo not poping but they are probably still set to the old higher temps I guess. Will...

    First Turkey Smoke/Fry

Ok actually just shy of the 2 hour mark and the breast is already at 156, thigh is at 149..... it is an 11 1/2 lb bird. Is that possible I have had the smoker cranked up to about 350 to 370 ish depending on which thermo you believe. Thanks John

    First Spare Ribs

Yep Skinner its the big one. I got the big one because you have to cut the racks of ribs in the smaller one. In this one you can get the ribs in with no problem. Typically it is only me the wife and daughter that I cook for but the added room also comes in handy when other family members are...

    First Spare Ribs

Thanks Deb, Flash, So just fill the pan with the sand? I assume that you would cover it with foil so it does not get full of grease. I did notice the temp was wandering around a bit, probably as the water level got lower. Mötley Cüe Nice tip, that would have made less of a mess also. -John

    First Spare Ribs

Well I took them out of the foil and a bone fell right out of the middle of one of the racks! I guess they are "falling off the bone" they are in the end stage now trying go firm up a little. I was wondering if I should pull out the water pan at this point but decided that could be really...

    First Spare Ribs

I started out using the temp gauge on the door then I hung the probe from my digital down in the top vent hole to about the level of the door theremo. It is off by quite a bit so the temp in the smoker was running closer to 250. I had them in for 3 hours and their was very little pull back but...

    First Spare Ribs

Hi gang, I fired up the new GOSM smoker today (already seasoned) and filled the water pan with water and apple juice. I used Jeff's rub on the ribs and tossed them in with a mixture of hickory and apple chips. The temp has been running aroud 240 ish and in 3 hours I did not see a lot of pull...

    Hello from Orlando Florida

Thanks Doc, I will head over there. There is a place on the UCF side of town that has really great meat, but they only have a few different cuts. I have lots of icy cold friends too.
