    Let's see your Maters!

You don't list a location so I can't tell where you are or your climate or temps. Blossoms often don't set if temps are over 90 or below 50-55. High humidity hinders pollination too. If you aren't in those temps, you can increase your chances by shaking the cage or plant to get the pollen to...

I want to make ann ABT Holder

Is that King Kooker made of stainless? aluminum? I think that is the one I ordered this morning for $10 at Amazon. I actually ordered a cordless Dremel tool kit to do the puppy's nails and to get free shipping on everything... I can use the Dremel to make the holes bigger for some jumbo jals.

    Lost my tomatoes to TMV

Most of my photos are of tomatoes & peppers harvested. I have about 60 plants here and another 50+ at a friend's in the burbs. I also grow 10-25 varieties of heirloom garlic (12 this year I think), a few hundred onions, some triplesweet corn, etc. Giant pumpkins too, but have taken the last 2...

    Lost my tomatoes to TMV

Save plants? or fruits? The problem with LB is that it may take 3-4 days to see it... in other words, the plant may look normal but be infected because of the delay time. If the watery dark patches are on the stems & vines, the plants are pretty much goners. If you just have it on some leaves...

    Lost my tomatoes to TMV

Meat Hunter, you have LATE BLIGHT!!!! You really need to contact your local county extension service and report it! I am in the northeast and it usually NEVER shows it's ugly head, but most of the plants sold by Bonny Plants to places like Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc, either HAD Late...

I want to make ann ABT Holder

I would probably go with multiple sizes, especially if you grow your own. I grow about 20 varieties of peppers each year and even all the jalapeno types are different sizes. This year I have Chichimeca which is a jumbo size jalapeno, Purple Jalapeno, which is pointy & shorter, and Jaloro, which...

    No cream cheese/?

Standard poppers (breaded & usually deep fried) use cheddar & bacon pieces. There was a 4-star restaurant out here, now closed, that had a great pepper, I'll have to look for the recipe, but they were Hungarian Hot type peppers ("yellow hots" maybe; light green) stuffed with a mix of...

    baked beans

I agree! I have made them with pork butts, ribs, chicken, prime rib roast, even Thanksgiving turkey! Perhaps the only time the smoker was on and DIDN'T make them was ... ... during break-in/seasoning! Oh, and once or twice when I was smoking peppers or tomatoes! hahaha!

    Corn

A couple things now that I found this thread... I grow my own corn... this way, you can choose the variety & type. There are many that are just not grown commercially, and 99% you won't even find at a roadside stand or farmers market. They are much, much sweeter than the shipped or trucked in...

    Jalapenos

Next time, after cutting them & deseeding/deribbing, microwave them for a few minutes covered in water. It will partially cook them & soften them a little too. Drain the water & repeat if necessary. This will also cut down on time needed in the smoker too. The best way is to nuke/drain the night...

QUESTIONS ob boneless rib roast/ribeye/prime rib...

Thanks everybody! A HUGE thunderstorm passed thru and didn't hear the alarm go off, I had it set to 135 and it hit 138. I already ate the bark ends plus a center piece but will post some plated Q! I used a B&D electric knife and cut nice & easy. A pic from the other end: This is...

QUESTIONS ob boneless rib roast/ribeye/prime rib...

I did one last year & forgot... do I take it to a certain temp like 135 or ???? Then remove it & foil & rest for xx minutes? Mine is a boneless ribeye roast, about 5.5lbs. I'm trying Steven Raichlin's BBQ-University wood blend for beef, of hickory, oak & mesquite, plus just added a little...

    Smoked Chicken enchiladas

That's exactly what I came on today for, chicken enchiladas! Can you explain how you made the sauce and if corn or flour tortillas and how they got put together? (Did you use sauce inside it too or just over the top?) I am trying to make them with white meat/breasts... I just smoked 10 bone-in...

Does store-bought sausage take to smoking? plus more questions...

I left them on for 2 hours, I didn't have my digital thermometer out. They were firm. I put them in a ziplock bag. Didn't eat them. Then after cooling down put them in fridge. Can I just microwave them when I want to eat them? Or grill them? One variety had pork and the other had chicken.

Does store-bought sausage take to smoking? plus more questions...

Is that the temp I should use for fresh sausage, 225? And am I needing to look for a specific internal temp or no? I'll be pulling the ribs so they will be the only things in the smoker. Thanks.

Does store-bought sausage take to smoking? plus more questions...

OK, ironic that I FORGOT to take the sausage out of the fridge! I will have to do it tomorrow, or throw it in now and refridge it & finish on the grill with the flank & skirt steak tomorrow? The ribs are still smoking, not very much pullback from the bone. This is going on 3-2-2 now, and it was...

Does store-bought sausage take to smoking? plus more questions...

Thanks. YES, the sausage is fresh sausage, I have no idea how long they would take to cook either. The smoker is at 225, I took it up to 235 to see more smoke but brought it back down again. I didn't put the sausage in yet, is there a certain amount of time they will need? I started the ribs on...

Does store-bought sausage take to smoking? plus more questions...

Sorry, I tried searching but found very little. I am doing ribs, flank steak, a few split chicken breasts, etc, this weekend but didn't decide how to do everything. The flank steak (and I also bought skirt steak too) I assume I grill instead of smoke? I also have to get a plan together to do...
