    Time for a new smoker!

seanysmokes, yes I got the smoker going. 4 racks of ribs turned out real good. FWIW I used the water pan and hickory chunks. 3 hours @200 2 hours wrapped @ 200, about 30 minutes unwrapped to finished. Only one fell apart the other 3 held up well. So nice to get a smoker wide enough to lay my...

    Time for a new smoker!

Hey everyone, I went to smoke some Tri Tip last weekend to celebrate my 62nd trip around the sun, and was displeased to see my Masterbuilt propane smoker was not functioning correctly (no blue fire). I managed to get the meat about 95% finished and had to switch to the grill to finalize it...

    Lost my Virginity this weekend

Thanks for the response. I didn't think it was dangerous to eat but I know sure as sunrise my BMU will say "that's not cooked". I was thinking maybe a slight fry before hand but then the weave would prove to shrunken. I read somewhere hereabouts one smoker made the weave and broiled it for a...

    Lost my Virginity this weekend

Hello Smokers, I had my first chance to pull some fatties this weekend. I did a breakfast and pizza fattie. Assembly took some getting used to but I managed to get it done. The Breakfast fattie blew a gasket and ended up scattered all over the cutting board. It still didn't last very long...

    Masterbuilt door latch problem

Thanks Bear. Really not addressing my problem though. I need to beef up the latch on mine. I was hoping someone else had done this already and could help me find a suitable latch to put on it. The door is really thin and I am concerned about durability.

    Masterbuilt door latch problem

Howdy Smokers, I got a question. Anyone here upgrade the door latches on the Masterbuilt smoker? The one it comes with is almost useless. I am using a bungee cord to help keep the door shut for now. Any suggestions on what would work best for a fix? Other than the latch I love it. Thanks...

    Turkey still frozen in Brine?

Okay so following your instruction I did the following: Ran cold water over the bird to speed up thawing. After about 2 hours placed the bird in the brine. Brined for 24 hrs.Pulled the bird out rinsed and dried off. Back in the fridge for 12 hrs. Next day inserted aromatics into the cavity...

    Turkey still frozen in Brine?

Okay then I will try the running water tonight while the brine is made. Hopefully it's had another day (while I'm at work) to thaw some. That would help a lot. One way or another it's going in the brine tonight. So if you all don't hear back from me I will have succumbed to food...

    Turkey still frozen in Brine?

From what I've read once you do that you have to cook it in the oven right away. You cannot smoke it.

    Turkey still frozen in Brine?

Hey, I got a turkey in the fridge "thawing". Not a biggun at 14 lbs. But it's been 2 days and it's still frozen. I was hoping to put it in the brine today for a Sunday smoke. Checked it this AM on my way out to work and it's still frozen. My question is can I put it partially frozen in the...

    Maryland Supply for BBQ stuff

Hey all, I've been here for about a year. Having a blast learning the tricks of the trade so to speak. However one thing I've found (or not found) is a good place to get supplies for smoking. Mainly I am talking about fruit wood and rubs , stuff that the grocery chains don't have and HD and...
