Several years ago I got the cast iron Emeril stove top smoker for my birthday. I've mostly just used it as a roasting pan since then, but the other night I decided to experiment with its intended use using a couple salmon fillets. I started off by warming up some cherry wood chips to the point...
I'm thinking about doing some ABT's this weekend for the Super Bowl. I'm kind of a picky eater when it comes to condiments. I don't care fore cream cheese and I downright hate sour cream. Seems like most ABT's are stuffed with one or both of those. Are there other ways to make them without...
Thank you for the tips everyone. I did my 1st smoke this weekend. I spatch'd 2 chickens, brined them overnight, let them sit in the refrigerator a couple hours to dry out, added dry rub and smoked them with a mixture of pecan & cherry in my MES just under 2 hours. We had company over and...
That is the question.
I am new to smoking. I will be doing my first smoke on my analog MES tomorrow. I'm going to smoke 2 whole chickens. I am going to brine them overnight. I may put a beer can in the cavity, but if I don't, should I spatch them, or leave them whole? Pros & cons? What is the...
I just assembled my new analog masterbuilt electric smoker tonight and I'm really excited to start smoking this weekend. I have one quick question for those of you who have used the analog MES. How accurate is the temperature gauge on the door? I'm going to probably purchase a meat probe...
I ended up just buying a Masterbuilt electric smoker because I found one for cheaper than it would have cost me to build an electric UDS. Thanks for the help anyways.
I forgot to mention the outside is painted black, but the inside is bare steel. I'll try and upload some pics later.
Sounds like I should do a burn though. How long does the burnout take? I'll have to take it somewhere else to burn it.
Thank you for the feedback everyone.
I think the law is actually a county law. You have to have a certain distance from any building or fences to have an open flame if you live in an apartment or condo. I guess it makes sense. If I make a mistake, I burn down other people's homes too.
Hello everyone. I have not started smoking yet. I'm still in the research phase, which lead me here. I live in an apartment with a really small backyard, but I am not allowed to have anything with an open flame (stupid CA laws), so I am planning to buy or build an electric smoker. I have a clean...
