I was at Wally World about a week ago and saw bags of chopped up JD wiskey barrels (made of Oak). Has anyone used any of this or have an opinion of good or bad?
Cleaned out the freezer to make room for this weeks meat specials so I'm going to smoke my first turkey Sunday. I will definatly brine the bird, but I've seen posts not to stuff or do stuff. What are some views and if you would stuff what do you use.
Thanks,
I'm new to this and the fatty and ABT's are a must for every smoke.
Don't be afraid to ask any question. The help and knowlege of this forum is the best.
If I stuff a green chile with cheese and wrap the fatty arround it will the chile get cooked and soft like an ABT?
I have a fruitless mulberry in my yard (looks like it may be the white). I need to prune it this fall so I think I'll dry some of it out this winter and try it. Thanks for the idea.
I smoked some turkey legs this past weekend (first time). I brined them overnight and seasoned them. I was amazed at the taste. I'm going to check our Lowes for the leg rack.
I used mine for the first time this weekend and did not get enough smoke. I could smell it if I got close, but I wasn't quite enough. I'll try the can method.
Thanks for the help
I'm planning my second smoke and I'm going to do pulled pork also. I have the same smoker as you do (Pork Smoker). Do you set the can on the wood chip box that comes with it or remove it? I hope mine looks that good.
I had my first smoking experence yesterday and need some help with a few things. I have the BBQ Grillware vertical propane smoker that several have purchase recently. I kept the temp between 225-240 (according to the built in temp gauge). I seemed to have problems getting very much smoke...
I'm making my first attempt tomorrow. CS ribs 3-2-1, a fatty, turkey legs and some ABT's. Any advice before I get started? One concern I have is how much wood (I'm using chips) should I use. I don't want to get to much smoke. BTW this forum is great.

I have a BBQ Grillware propane smoker that I just purchased. I'm from Enid OK and love OU football. What would be a good item to start with? I'm thinking of CS pork ribs (they are on sale this week) and a fatty. My son also wants me to throw on some turkey legs.

My name is Ray. Have have grilled and cooked for many years and now I'd like to smoke. This site is amazing with all of the info and I look forward to my first smoke (this weekend). The hard part is deciding what to do first. BTW how do you get to the recipe for the baked beans I keep...
