No it is not insulated. Should it be? I had thought about cutting in a hole and then using that piece to seal the hole and take it out if I ever wanted to use that end as a stand alone smoker without using the big barrel part. I am going to put a stack on the warmer so I can smoke thru it too...
Yes your right on the torsion axles, I put a set on a motorcycle trailer i built for a friend of mine, just trying to keep the cost at a min for now, got my new springs today (3500#) will try to get them in this week. Had to order my expanded metal yesterday may be a week or so before i get it...
Yea I touched my ground yesterday and noticed it was abnormally hot, guess I might have been over working it a bit. I have used about half of a 50# roll of wire on this thing, the welds on the burn box end, best I can add are about 50' total then welding tank to box. Being a union pipefitter...
That handle on the left side, it turn down and then I welded a stop on the inside for the damper to stop at halfway.
In this pic you cant see the handle but it would be on the right, My hole looks crooked here.lol Heck I believe it is, oh well I bet air will still flow through it.
How much plate are you thinking that you need? There is a guy on Ripley road that has some stuff not sure of the 1/4" but he has alot of useful stuff laying around that you might use. Cant think of his name but just look for the big red barn, all the stuff behind it is for sale.
Well I cant really share where I got it, lets just say a good friend really helped me out. I will be on the look out for you though. Have you checked any of the scrap yards?
The axle is to far foward so when I change the springs I am going to move it back. The trailer was a freebie so I will make it work somehow. Have any of you ever put a charcoal tray above your RF plate to cook steaks and burgers or any of that other stuff we grill? Thats what I am planning on...
I have it tacked on the tank and now my springs on the trailer are too soft. I knew this thing was gonna be heavy considering that 1/4 inch plate weighs 320 pounds per sheet and I have used 2 full sheets, not coulting the angle and expanded metal on the racks.
I have a whole receipe book of resturant recepies anything from wendys frosty to Red lobster garlic biscuits, fridays jack daniels sauce, its about 800 recepies. On the rib note, I think that smoke bones ribs are the best bought ribs, in the south anyway. I can e-mail that recepie book if you...
