    Traeger Smokers!!!

Howdy Falcon, I've been using a Traeger for 3 years.  I haven't had it burn all the way back to the hopper, but I've had it burn back far enough to smoke up through the hopper.  The only time I saw it, was after using a bag of pellets, that had a lot of extra dust in it, so I blamed myself for...

    My new man grates!

Nice!! This gets me thinking about the cast iron grates in my old gas grill that I'm about to trash.  I'm thinking I should "harvest" the grates before it goes to the dump. Thanks for the great idea!!

    Question for pellet smokers

I have a Traeger, and have done a few briskets, with some good luck.  But the bark was not that thick crispy bark, because I wrapped (usually closer to 180).  I have had the same experience with pork shoulders and disappointment with the bark. However, 2 weeks ago I did my first pulled pork...

Smokers, Whats your age and how long have you been smoking???

I'll be turning 50 later this year. Was a long time griller but when I needed a replacement for my last gas grill, I wanted to try something different, so I bought a pellet pooper. That was 3 years ago, and I have not looked back. When I decided I wanted something to grill on, I bought a Lodge...

what cheese do i need to use for stuff burgers?

I use cheddar or Swiss.  But it all depends on how "tightly" you get the seal! If it's tight enough, the cheese will completely melt, but will "leach" into the meat, and not leak out.

need a mild rub for baby back ribs

Here's the recipe I use for KC style ribs.  It's mostly sweet, not really much heatr to it, but you can still cut down on the pepper's to make it cooler: 1/2 cup brown sugar1/4 cup paprika1 tablespoon black pepper1 tablespoon salt1 tablespoon chili powder1 tablespoon garlic powder1 tablespoon...

Getting ready to get a pellet smoker...

Looks like I'm late to the party, but if you're going with the Yoder, that's exactly what I would have suggested. I currently use a Traeger, but since it's in it's 4th year, and I've already had to replace parts, I've been researching my next smoker.  I have a friend who has a Mak, with "some"...

Steak On A trager Wood Pellet Smoker. To Sear Or Not To Sear?

When I do steak on my Traeger, I turn it to high, and let that thing get just as hot as it will go (400-425), and cook my steaks in it for about 8 minutes per side depending on the thickness. Both my wife and I like it pink to bloody inside.  If I want a sear on it, I reverse sear it, after it...

    My first ever smoke!

Those legs look great.  Very nice for your first smoke. Geerock is right, welcome to your new addiction. Now you'll start thinking about what your going to smoke next, almost as soon as you pull the current stuff out of the smoker. Maybe sooner! Then you'll get into making your own rubs, and...

    Pulled Pork just because

Sure, I started trying this out, 2 or 3 years ago, to make it a little different, and since I always buy the 2 pack of butts, I didn't necessarily want all that bbq pulled pork in the freezer.  My wife makes her own taco seasoning, which she pulled from a book years ago now, and it's great...

    MMmmmm Ribbbss!!

I am a firm believer that if I'm going to smoke something....I'm going to fill up the smoker! So yesterday, we were having some friends over for a little cookout / get together, and I smoked some ribs! This is the first time I used ribs from Cash & Carry, but definitely not the last time, they...
