Anyone out there have experience with one of these? I found a used one and thought it might be a good starter smoker for my father. What opinions do you have of this smoker? Is it a good 'first' smoker? Thanks in advance!

This is the one I have as well (again, not stainless). I am missing a grate and the water bowl. I also want to pick up a turkey fryer pot for it. Are there any mods to help maintain temp.? Do you (personally) use gas to smoke or charcoal? I bought a pizza plate from Lowes today that fits...
I just got a hold of one of these too and was going to post the same thing. Mine is used and I think it's missing some parts...I only have one grate and one bowl in the bottom. I have the stand, the burner, mid section, and the top w/thermometer. Anything else I should be looking for? Sorry...

These turned out GREAT! The cumin gave the chicken a nice ethnic flavor. The fam thought it was all delicious. Even my dad (the resident chef of the family) raved about it! Here are some pics:

Well, the chicken is on and cooking as of 1:15 central time. It's about 4.75 lbs. and the smoker is holding steady at 250 so I'm assuming about 4-5 hrs. (Cook to temp. not time). I'll throw the fatty on in a few hrs. It's a turkey w/ cheddar, pepper jack, sauteed onions and peppers, and sun...
I'm not for sure what I'm going to use. I have some generic chicken seasoning I thought about. I also thought about some lemon pepper. I'm brining it in kosher salt, cumin, parsley, garlic powder, and brown sugar. I'm not very good with spices at this point and just use what smells good...
