Thanks! The barrels were full of dry edibles. I think he said sacks of tomatoes...I know it wasn't petroleum products as that was the first thing I asked him. Yeah, $50 seems to be the norm online. The killer part is that the local grocery store is selling off their 22 in Webber knock-offs...
I think he said he would make arrangements to deliver if there were multiple drums purchased. I'll have to go back and read...That may be a good idea.
Edit-Deals or free delivery on orders of 10+ barrels. Wanna go into the UDS making business? LOL!
J-
I want to build a drum smoker. They look really cool and I think it would be a lot of fun. Here's my dilemma:
There is a guy about 30 mins. away who is selling used barrels for $5. Yeah, really good deal IMO. The problem is I don't have a way to haul it and the one person I know with a...
Alright...finished up and it was delicious! The sauce was fantastic! Thanks Dutch for sharing that! Very nice and flavorful! I did...well...sin, however. I was out of lump and my temp started dropping so I...um...well...finished for 20 mins in the O**N. I know...I'm so ashamed.
Here's...
Gonna give salmon a try for dinner. Brined it for about 4 hours, made some of Dutch's sauce (had to modify it as I didn't have some of the ingredients), and have had it smoking for the last hour/hour and a half at about 190. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll turn out.
Good smoke to...
I did a 13lber. not too long ago. My temps fluxed quite a bit but on average they were 225 or lower. I think the bird took about 6 hrs. If I had the temp. up I know it would have been quicker. I've seen quite a few posts where people have cooked them at 275 or greater and they get done much...
Yeah, that's what I have been doing. I don't think I've been burning it long enough though...I'm going to have to watch closer. My dad has A LOT of mulberry and so far I like it quite a bit. I want to keep using it, but at the same time I don't want to ruin my food by not seasoning it...
I have a question for you Rich, or anyone else, how long/to what extent do you pre-burn wood? I have a stack of mulberry my dad gave me from his property that has been cut and sitting out for about 9 months or so. It still has the bark and seems to be a bit green yet. I was told to pre-burn...
For this smoke I used my Masterbuilt 7-in-1 for the first time as a smoker. I just wanted to throw a couple of opinions out there as to how it compared to using my Char-griller.
Pros:
Easier set up- I didn't have to run foil all over the place to 'plug' holes which I have to do with the...
My wife doesn't much care for pork or beef so if I do any smoking I have to throw chicken on there as well! Beer can chicken turns out great every time. The couple times I did them I brined them for about 4 hours or so then rubbed and smoked. Delicious! I'm working on making the skin more...
Glad you liked it and you enjoyed it! I wish I could take credit for this idea, but I too saw it on these very forums. I can't remember who did it, but they did a chicken cordon bleu type thing in the same manner. It looked yummy so I modified it for what I needed. If someone knows the post...
