    Sorry for the late thanks, hate going back to work after vacation. Might do some pork loin roulades this weekend with the cherry and see the results. Gave some to a co worker who is doing a shoulder this weekend, he was like a little kid Christmas morning when I gave him a bag of mini-splits.

    You can make a gasket(washer) of folded crumpled foil on the inside then washer-nut. It squashes and fills in slight gaps from drilling hole. No cure time, no clean up.

    If you have or access to a weed burner you could burn it off after you scrape it out well with stiff spackle knife, paint scraper etc. Stiff wire brush or wheel burn offs then give a wash of some kind.
