There's no model number listed and it doesn't say if it has the RF remote or if it has Bluetooth. All the 2.5 models will come with Bluetooth instead of the RF remote, which the 2.0 would have.
Adding racks could be done but it would involve removing all the screws for it's racks and relocating them then adding 8 more for the 2 new racks. Not worth the trouble IMO.
I Dunno which MES 40 your referring to at cabellas, but I see they have a 40 inch sportsman elite for 383. The SAMs MES 40 is 329. SAMs is a 4 rack model with a stand included. The cabellas sportsman elite has no stand but comes with 2 more racks. Same size inside but the 6 racks are closer...
Yea I reloaded it after 10 hours to half full. Not sure if it really needed more smoke or not but it sure ended up perfect. My top vent is always wide open.
You have the new MES 40 BT. No need to elevate your AMPS. Just set it on the bottom of your smoker. No need to pull the chip tray out an inch and no need to pull out the chip loader a little. I just smoked 10 pound picnic Saturday at 225 for 18 hours, to an IT of 205 without foiling. Nice bark...
No issues at all. I don't know of anyone having issues with this model. The reason people say to get the warranty(as I did) is simply because the MES warranty is only 90 days and at SAMs you can get a three year warranty for 30 bucks. That's nice insurance for cheap.
you'll find no need to keep water in the pan in the MES. leave the pan in the smoker to help with side to side heat distribution. But the MES is great on its own at holding moisture.
Well I didn't have to worry about it being done too soon. This is crazy here. It's at 207 IT now and it's still not probe easy tender. Been smoking for 11 hours now at 220 until 2 hours ago when I bumped the heat up to 250. Guess I'll keep checking every 5 degrees until my probe slides in like...
Woke up at 6 am. It was 32 degrees outside. Started the smoker at 250. 6:30 am I filled the AMPS with pitmasters choice and lit one end. Took the rubbed 4.2 pound brisket flat out of the refer. At 6:45 put in the brisket on the second rack and the AMPS on the bottom of the MES. Smoker temp...
