What CB said. 1/3 cord is a pretty good stack, and depending on the size of the logs, you may end up having to cut them down or split them yet again to fit the firebox. I looked at a 1/4 cord of oak for $85 here locally, and when I get it delivered, I'll be splitting some of the larger round...
Tried a bag of Stubb's Natural Briquettes I picked up on sale at Lowes. Their web site boasted of less ash than other brands & no binders. It had as much ash as did the Kingsford blue bag. Definately switching over to lump after this.
I had that type needle valve that came off an old fryer I had. I was able to use it with a few fittings from Home Depot. Just cracking the propane tank valve won't help, the regulator will deliver the pre-set pressure since it is down line from the tank valve. When I use my Char-broil...

Congrats on the Old Country BBQ Wrangler, I just got my Old Country BBQ Over and Under and love it!
Look forward to seeing some Q pics and hearing...
Oh man! Pozole is something that brings back the memories for me of growing up and my Grandmother making it on a cold day with flour and corn tortillas! I have got to try using the smoked bones as you mentioned when I make it for my family.
Yes, they are exclusive to Academy even though some of their offset models are available on the Old Country BBQ web site. Academy is now carrying a huge Old Country vertical that isnt available directly from their Uvalde facility either.
I have been using a Mercer Millenia 14" slicer with a granton edge and really like it. Stays sharp for long periods and the handle is very comfortable.
I prefer buying spare ribs and doing my own trimming, rather than buying the St. Louis ribs already trimmed. The local HEB (Texas grocery chain) always has both and you pay more for the St. Louis. I don't mind the extra effort of trimming them myself, and then I have those trimmings I either...
Can't tell if its galvanized or painted with aluminum paint from the image. Have you tried lightly sandpapering a section to see if its painted or not?
Heres a test procedure from eHow.com. It might work for you to see if its galvanized or not. Where it says wipe the solution on the steel...
Just curious, but have any of you members of the Brotherhood of the Thin Blue Smoke given your smokers names? Thought it might be interesting to see what different folks call their smokers.
I recently broke in my new Old Country BBQ Over & Under and used Kingsford blue bag for my coal bed. Used a chimney to start it and then added oak splits as I went thru the 8-1/2 hour cook. The firebox runs the length of the cook chamber offset below the back side, so the coals were spread...
Stubbs barbeque sauces had been owned by Whole World Foods (the company that CB Stubblefield founded) in Austin until this past June. McCormick (the spice company) acquired the company at that time. Stubbs charcoal briquettes and wood chips are distributed under license to use the name by...
My 2.25 cents.....a disposable aluminum loaf pan will work fine. If the water gets low when you're checking on your cook, be sure to add hot water. The guys I know that use an offset put their water pan on the firebox side and on the same grate with meat.
The best wife ever got me an Old Country BBQ Over & Under smoker for my recent birthday. I have a Char-Broil vertical gasser I've done mods to to get to where I like it, but I've been wanting to move to a charcoal/wood burner for a while. This past Sunday was my first cook on it, an 8 pound...
