    Smoking on a Budget?

    With the country's current economic situation in very much of a flux (won't start on politics), I am curious if anyone has started to change any of their smoking meat habits because of the downturn.  I am looking for anything to try and see if anything can be cut back on my backyard operation...

    I have to go with Sweet Ray's but when I make a custom sauce, I actually try to mix it up with different store brands and add a few spices of my only.  Also about 100 percent of time, I add some cherry bourbon for a quick hit.

    To be honest I don't know.  I actually have a propane grill that if I need to grill something real quick before smoking I will but for 40 to 50 wings its a bit much work.  I just advise people power smoke chicken especially parts like wings....

    I actually got the smoker up to 300, and let them go for about 90 minutes.  Also, I did use water in the pan, however some people swear by using sand.  It is really a preference.  The problem with chicken in general is if you try to do it low and slow for too long, the skin gets rubbery.  A...
