If you do think that you might try and do some smoking on it, I'd go with the bigger one and make sure it has the flip up grates. Because it's bigger you can do a better job of cooking indirectly by getting the food further away from the heat. And with the flip up grates it's easy to add more...

This is why, I believe, there is such an influx of BBQ shows, resturants, books, etc. I think it's all good for the "sport" of BBQ. As long as people are talking about and claiming theirs is better than someone else's is fueling the popularity of this method of cooking.

I "wood" think cedar would be awfully strong and doesn't sound appealing to me. But I know people use it all the time in the form of cedar planks to grill fish on.
