    Homebrewers Roll-Call

Gary, this is my first time to try this.  I have made dog treats out of some spent grains and they were tail wagging good.  I smoked and dried about four to six cups of grain and ground it up in the Magic Bullet and it looks like, well flour. I tasted it and it is kind of like tasting wheat...

    Just Got my Smoker!

Wow Katie, ya'll live in a beautiful part of the country.  Last year my wife and I spent three weeks ridding our motorcycle all over SE Utah.  Loved it.  I'm ready to go back. You will love the MES.  I am new to it by just a few months but I bet I have over 100 hours on it.  No big long smokes...

    Homebrewers Roll-Call

Knocked out a Blonde Ale today.  Haven't brewed since April so it was good to it it again and now I wait for my rewards. I also scooped some of the spent grains into a pyrex dish and threw it into the smoker, mostly to dry it out but it might have a few pellets in the AMNPS.  I'm going to take...

    fattie

Once you smoke a fattie, you will smoke them pretty often.  They are soooo good.  They are also fun to share with others and if you tell them that "I smoked a fattie today" it'll make them wonder.

    Fall Colors @ Bear's House

I have leaf envy.  Here in South Texas our leaves will go from green to brown with nothing in between.  I will still mow the yard about three more times before Christmas.

    G/f is a vegetarian!

I did a smoked cabbage one time.  It was really good.  I cored it out the best I could and in the hole I stuffed butter and garlic.  Took a piece of foil and formed a ring to make the cabbage sit up and smoked it until it was a little soft.  I bet your G/F will love it and you as well.

getting the wife the smoking bug

I think my wife would have made Top Raman Soup if I didn't cook outside.  I have tried to show her how to use the grill or smoker but she has no interest.  She is an awesome cook but never does it outside. Good for you.

    Cleaning a smoker

I take the racks off and throw them on my grill on high for 10-15 minutes.  The walls, never touched them.  I do turn the heat to 275* for an hour or so to "kinda" clean it out.  The water pan and drip pan I cover with foil so after the smoke, I just throw it away. I'm sure smarter people will...

how many people find smoking meat and BBQ relaxing?

Smoking four chickens and a few links of sausage today.  Looking forward to just sitting outside in the heat (I am in South Texas) and enjoying a cigar with my friends over.  Wife is stressed out about all the "other" things like, is the floor mopped?  Is the bathroom clean?  Is the house...

Fatties, fatties, everywhere! Breakfast style, that is...

Dude, those look really good.  I'm doing two fatties today but not breakfast stuff. I think I'll make these in the next two weeks.

Best Beginner Electric Smoker-Thinking between different brands

Good morning Jaybird.   I voted other because I have a different one.  I have had a Brinkman Electric Smoker for a while and didn't really do a whole lot other than chicken and a few other things.  Anyway, my element went out so I researched electric smokers for a few weeks and it came down to...

    First Time Smoking Whole Turkey

I just smoked a turkey two days ago.  It was just an 11 pounder so kinda small but I first put it on at 275 to heat up and when I put the bird in I droped it back to 225* and it was ready in about 5ish hours.  Yummy!!!!

    First Smoke on my MES

Scott, I am also a newbe to the MES 30" and got on here.  On my second smoke I had the AMNPS and what a difference it makes.  I ordered mine on Labor Day with a 10% discount so the 20% is a lot better but I am very happy with it. I did have a few problems keeping it lit for the whole smoke but...

Does the Brinkmann Electric Gourmet Smoker need any modifications?

I had one that I used for a short time. It did good until the element gave out. My two gripes about it were 1: it's either on of off, no temp control and 2: it is a this metal so I had to use a wind block to keep it from cooling off sometimes. I enjoyed it and it did really good food. I was...

how many people find smoking meat and BBQ relaxing?

Wow, what a way to describe something.  That was good. I also find cooking outside enjoyable but being in South Texas if I look at the thermometer, it will NOT be 46* unless it's broken. Smoked two fatties today and it's nice to just watch the smoke rise up.
