In the mean time, until I get my hands on one of these AMNPS units, if I put plain wood chips on the rack above my water bowl, will that get hot enough to generate some decent smoke, or should I leave the water bowl out to do this with a cheapo smoker box?
After doing some research here, I found a couple things I can't seem to find an answer to.
First off, I have the el cheapo electric brinkman smoker. I have seen several references to the Amazen smoke generators here in various threads, but I'm not sure if one would work in my smoker. I can't...
Words fail me. That is simply awesome! I haven't been a big fan of this season lately, with all the madness surrounding it, but it sounds like you guys found a way to get back in touch with what it really means.
I finally worked up the nerve & motivation to give it another try. Brined up a nice sized chicken & two turkey drum sticks..
A few hours later..

A little crooked on the beer can rack, but otherwise worked out well!

Can anyone see where I went wrong right off the bat? This was a fail of near epic proportions, ALMOST scared me away from using the smoker again..
That is some damn fine looking food porn right there! I'm not sure I'm ready to tackle this yet, but I might need to step my game up & try it for NYE!!!
Did you use a kit to put this together, or did you just source everything on your own? I'd love to have a big old double barrel like this someday, sounds like a good autumn project some year..
