Using electric Brinkmann as charcoal smoker?

How old is your smoker? My older Chargril was easy to convert to charcoal, but I'm not sure if a new one would be as easy. The reason I say that is that my new Chargrill is designed in such a way that it's only good as an electric. The big firepit that you can use either an element or chacoal...

Oh No! Yet Another Experiment W/Qview ?

Good luck with it. Since you want to do it quickly, you should just brine it and smoke it. The old books do call for a longer brining time than modern recipes. I have a book which suggests a brining time of 7 to 10 days. However, you can get away with an overnight brine.

    That Flexable Metal Sheet

Using an electric smoker, you don't need charcoal at all. Try not using charcoal. Just soak your wood chips/chunks for a couple of hours beforhand and just use those. Some people wrap their chips or chunks in foil, some put a pan over the element and some just throw them in. That's mostly a...

To Charcoal Smoke or Gas or Electric?

I have an electric Char-Broil that I just got. For right now, sometimes I'll still use a charcoal smoker just as quick as the electric, but I do like the electric for long smokes. A turkey or huge hunk of pork would go through a good bit of charcoal. Also, I work as a home caregiver and need a...

    Char-Broil Electric Smoker

You should replace the temperature indicator (warm, ideal, hot) with a real thermometer and put in a vent. If you have more money than time, you can get a machine shop to make these modifications for you. If you would rather do it yourself, it might look a little homemade, but you would save...

    Smoked steak.?

I smoked a couple of filet mignons in the smoker a while back. They turned out mighty good. Just marinate them in a good marinade for beef and smoke them as you would any other piece of meat.
