Posted once but finally ready to go

Wow...thanks for all of the quick, thorough replies. With Father's Day coming up, I know what to ask the wife for now. I'll try and get some Q-views up after the weekend if possible.

Posted once but finally ready to go

So I'm fired up...I just got my GOSM Big Block and I'm ready to get going this weekend. Got some chips, a couple of digital thermometers and a cover for the smoker (live in Seattle...very necessary). My question is: what other tools would make my smoking experiences more enjoyable? I've...

    GOSM question

Just got the email today that it's on its way. Looks like it's tracking to be delivered by FedEx on Tuesday. Man, I can't wait to get it going.

    GOSM question

Wish there was a Bass Pro in my area but I ordered mine online. Haven't received an email notifying me that it's shipping yet so I'm a little worried.

    GOSM question

Yeah, epod2000 is no longer selling them and they're supposedly on "backorder" at Amazon. Guess I'll try Basspro too.

    GOSM or Vault?

I'm in the same boat as you in terms of looking for the Big Block. I did see that one on Amazon and it's $228 plus $20 shipping making it a total of $248. I'm still trying to find a store around Seattle where I can pick one up but haven't been having much luck.

    Even newer than new...

Thanks for all of the great responses. I promise I'll be back to show off the goods at some point...although with a couple of little ones and constant rain up here, it might not be for a while.

First Smoker: GSOM Big Block or smaller size?

Alright, I'm ready to enter the world of smoking and have determined that a GOSM propane smoker will be perfect for my needs. I am having a bit of a problem deciding between the two sizes though. Here's my dilemma: - My space is a bit limited so I could benefit from the smaller size BUT I...

    Suggestions for a 1st smoker?

Thanks for the suggestions. So the big block GOSM and wide-body GOSM are different? I thought they were the same product. Is one preferable to the other?

    Suggestions for a 1st smoker?

Hey all- It's time to make my real entrance into the world of smoking. I miss Texas barbecue now that I'm up here in Seattle and need to start cranking out some brisket and ribs. Plus, those fatties I read about on this site sound amazing. Anyway, I've seen the GOSM mentioned quite a bit but...

So I just smoked my 1st brisket...

Thanks for the quick replies. Yes, the meat was at 160 after coming out of the oven. I was worried about overcooking but maybe I just undercooked. Seemed a little overdone, though. I do think I'll step it up to a GOSM as suggested. I got the fever from just one brisket and I think my Little...

So I just smoked my 1st brisket...

Total rookie here so I'd love some advice. I've been a huge barbecue fan since I lived in TX a few years back. I ended up getting a free electric smoker (Little Chief) and picked up a brisket to give it a try. Spent most of Saturday cooking, reheated it on Sunday and consumed. The taste was...
