    10lb Pulled pork

Hey Dennis, Looking good so far. I have a pork shoulder in the smoker since 6 this morning as well. I already have the cole slaw made and stewing in it's own juices and am about to throw together some of Dutch's Wicked Baked Beans. Debating whether that is enough or if I should throw some...

Step by Step Smoked Corn on the Cob

I have often wondered why we are encouraged to remove the silk from the corn prior to cooking. I usually trim just the hairy end off and throw them in the smoker to "stew in their own juices". I kinda figure nature did such a wonderful job wrapping them so tightly, why mess with perfection...

    Trout?

Apple and alder is the way to go..... The alder gives a good smoke flavor while the blend of apple adds a nice subtle flavor to the fish. It tends to be a little more forgiving too if you smoke for too long. Depeniding on the size / amount of the fillets.... watch your brine time as the fish...

Wendy & Albert's First Brisket Smoke

Ya know.... it used to be that the only thing that would get me out of bed that early was hunting or fishing...LOL. My son joined me last weekend smoking fish for canning and helping with a fattie. Can't tell you how my heart swelled with pride when he told me he wanted to learn how to do all...

    Experimental Fattie QView

Well it was told to me here on the SMF that nothing was off limits when it came to fatties so I thought..."What the heck" and gave this one a try. I started by par boiling some potato wedges and carrots in onion soup mix for some added flavor, then stuffed the veggies inside my burger/sausage...

    quick butt question

Finishing the butt in the oven is as controversial as what came first the chicken or the egg but in the end, it is a matter of personal taste and (as is in your case) a matter of convenience. In my opinion, in the smoker through the entire smoke is perferable but I am confident that sooner or...

    Pork Sirloin Instead Of Butt?

Living in Alaska, I have had to make many compromises over the years but was astounded yesterday when I went to our local grocer to purchase a pork butt or shoulder for pulled pork this weekend only to discover the only thing available was one very small, and ugly looking piece of pork shoulder...

    In For It In AK

The wife said she wanted spagetti for dinner and I said, "How The H**l am I supposed to keep the noodles and sauce form dropping to the bottom of my new smoker?" She then commented that I was under some type of obsession with my new smoker.... and I replied, "Well Duh!" And the fight was...

    Pigeon Help

Have you thought about rigging a 12 volt car battery to the wire mesh? It used to make chickens dance when we were kids and if it doesn't get rid of them... at least it might be interesting to watch

    Losing the juice

I have not tried a pork butt yet but have one in the freezer (like planning ahead) for may be this weekend. You brought up a good point regarding the juices and it got me to thinking about placing a drip pan under the pork just before removing the butts just in case the foil rips..just a thought.
