Actually the smoke was hickory and maple. They turned out really great. All of the family loved them, and I think that I am going to have to do it again. Probally around the 4th of July!!!!
Man dutch that is a bummer, maybe you can find a new source for maple. BTW I am going to smoke a couple of chickens for a dinner this weekend. I am planning to use mostly maple and maybe a hint of oak and hickory. I will keep you all posted.
I get mine at wal-mart. It is the Royal oak brand. It is $5 for 10lbs. The one around here seems to have it all year. You all are right how bad can you screw up lump charcoal!!!

Yes it is very good!!! Lady J and i went camping last weekend, and invited my parents over for supper and everyone loved the taco soup. It is so full of flavor and so delicious!!! Every one should give it a try.
